First major interview of my life. I think it went fairly well, however there were some uppers and downers.

-15 minutes, lasted the correct amount of time
- I was very composed, dressed well, acted calmly
- answered about half the the questions very well
- the other half were a little iffy, had to work to pull off a semi-decent answer
- the curve ball questions were answered to the best of my ability with the time given.

Over all I would give it a 7/10 on my part. Now we play the waiting game.

How would you say I did?

EDIT: How does this compare with interviews you guys have had, as far as number of answers you feel you answered very well, semi-well, bad, etc??

It was supposed to be 15 min, that how they were scheduled. 70 applicants for 20 spots.

ended on a good note

15 min interview? What position is this for? Shrug. The only time I've gotten one of those is for a school library job. My internship interview took 2 hrs, although I got pissed when I heard my friend at Cisco got interviewed in 20 min.

Interviews where I work can last up to about an hour each, and a candidate will have several of them with different people.

What questions did you answer poorly?

20 positions for 70 people... do you think you were in the top 20 based on your interview?

15 minutes seems really short for an in-person interview to be successful, but if that's the time allotted, so be it. It sounds like you probably have a 50/50 chance of a call back.

Did you send a Thank You letter or email, after the interview?

I use to do hiring in the past, the 15 minute interviews were typically the ones where I decided this person wasn't a fit.

The OP stated that was the time alloted. I have been to several interviews that were that short as they were interviewing many people in one day. I have also been in interviews that lasted several hours.

I had an interview that lasted almost 30 mins. I was just getting out of high school and was applying for a student assistant working for the state. A lot of questions about customer service and working on computers. Wow. I didn't even realize it went for 30+ mins. But I guess it went well because I got an offer on the spot.

I'd take a long interview over a short one any day. It's hard to get much ahead of anyone in such a short time. It really is a first impression. One little mistake in that few minutes and you are done. At least with a long interview you have time to recover, and they get a very good sense of who you are. that of course could be worse for some people.

As somebody who has interviewed and hired people for entry level positions and am now doing it for a more advanced (15 - 20 years) position, I think it can be completely reasonable to conduct a decent interview in 15 minutes.

I think the real 'secret' behind interviewing somebody is that it is so easy to figure out if you like or dislike the person within a minute. I can not explain it, but I think anybody who has interviewed people would understand what I am talking about. Anyhow, I assume you interviewed for an entry level position, correct? If so there is no need for some crazy 2 hour interview, those are for people talking about more advanced/technical positions or for outlier type companies such as Microsoft and Google.

If you were totally confident in *how* you answered the questions and how you presented yourself, then that can really go far in helping you out in the interview.

Way to go comparing advanced position interviews with entry level interviews!

I agree. The first thing I do is assess the candidate's fit with our corporate culture. I usually do that in the first minute or two. If I don't think that they will fit well, it is usually a 15 minute interview at most. If I think they will fit, it's going to be about an hour interviewing and testing.
