Just got back from the ER

I got faceplanted on the mat tonight in judo. Ended up getting my face glued back together by the ER doc. Fun stuff.

So for your amusement! Here are the after shots. Sorry didn't have my phone on me for any before shots.

The doc said it wasn't deep enough for stitches, but needed to be glued so it wouldn't scar. But yea, if it was MMA class that would be a scratch. I found it impressive because it was from a throw. I'm still trying to figure out how I hit my head on the mat to cut it like that.

Those shots are after the gluing, before it it was a little bigger with a lot more blood.

In all seriousness, that probably hurts more then it looks. Seems like a deep enough cut.

Actually, it doesn't hurt at all. I didn't even know I was bleeding until the coach told me. It stung when they cleaned it, but right now no pain at all.

that's not really getting your face glued back together... i just watched a vid of someone who REALLY needs his face glued back together. so bad i've decided not to post the link here. :Q

To your credit, while it doesn't look bad now, I'm sure it bled really bad when it happened.

I would have taken the scar personally... good for the ladies.

Pfffft. I thought you got a broken nose or something. I once got a bad nose bleed (from a well placed jab) during a sparring match and the only reason I stopped was because the instructor didn't want me bleeding all over the mat. Took 15 minutes to stop. The only difference is that your's might have left a visible scar, which could be cured with neosporin and some strips.

In one line: Fail.

I think it's that he went to the ER over it. Emergency Room! For something not even deep enough to require a stitch (usually referred to as a scratch.) Heck, this past weekend, my son broke his leg during warm-ups/practice for motocross. He still raced that afternoon, on his broken leg. Didn't bother with the medical personnel or ER for x-rays until after the races. Sometimes, you just have to suck it up else find a softer sport like butterfly collecting.
