Just got DSL!

Stable service... I get constant rate of ~60k/sec... Already download Wolfenstein demo, pretty cool. I'm so excited, I can't think straight. Can someone tell me what I should do with this new found broadband, I can't think of how to put it to use....actually, where can I get 3Dmark2001?

well, hmm, i got cable a while ago... and what do i do? i go to shockwave, cnet downloads, anything i can think of

oh yeah! download morpheus and download some full length movies! (i mean, of course you own them already, so its legal )

lol. go to college and you'll think 60 is slow =) downloads here now depend on how fast the servers are. top end microsoft or cnet servers give mee 900-1000 =). upload here is about 150-200 =)

True, i'm out of range for a cable connection, but my friend downloads at 602k/sec... MUCH faster than me. But compared to my 56k connection, I can't complain

I download at 600-800KB/s on my cable here

that is abotu 6-8MBit for you sticklers

The DSL we have in our area isn't true DSL, however they advertise it as that. I've heard nothing but bad bad things from everyone who gets DSL in my local town. However, our cable access from Charter Communications is excellent. A hefty price at 45 per month plus 10 for modem rental, but with all that speed I certainly find my money being spent well

Get a router. NOW!!! I recommend the Belkin Cable/DSL router.

I don't think you need to bother with a router. Just make sure to download Zone Alarms (free version is fine).

When I got DSL, my MP3 collection went from about 30 to 100+ literally over night.

I'm on cable now, and I've had many more problems than when I was on DSL
