the t68i is indeed 199$ (saw it at Ontario Mills (Ontario, California) on one of the AT&T stores)..

Note that AT&T phones only give you one try to unlock, if you mess up <- no more unlocking..

The T68M's can be upgraded to the T68i firmware for around 25$ plus shipping and etc (Some guy does it)
Check out www.tsixtyeight.com

the t68i for att wireless is available at most locations for 199. Good guys are running a promotion where they give off a 75 bux rebate on it, total 125.

I am going to cancel the phone today but am deliberating whether i want to jump to attws with their new gsm network. i like the idea of the siemens one with both gsm and tdma... plus now i would have to shell out 125+tax for a phone. hm...

well, we'll see.

Also, how did your friend get the T68i for 80 bux? that would be a sweet deal for sure.

Does it have the T68m colors? If it does then it's just the T68m flashed to T68i firmware.

Get this phone if you can!

um, you sure cingular is part of T-Mobile? I think you are mistaken about that as there is not mention of that at all on cingulars webpage.

Cingular is a part of T-Mobile, at least in certain areas, like Buffalo, NY. Cingular and VoiceStream are in the midst of merger talks but nothing has happened yet but it's said to be imminent.

you should go to att website, they have a picture of thier T68i , it is a real T68i, not upgraded or anything
just att change the color on it's body to blue as the orinigal t68i have the milky color , but the color plate around the screen is still the same.

my friend got his t68i from a chinese store, these are same as the one at the mall , authorized dealer

The Ericsson phone is really cool...it's the Cingular service that makes me cringe. I get no reception in my house but I guess that's due to GSM's indoor limitations.

If it wasn't for Cingular's horrible service in my area, (Walnut/Rowland Heights) I would be all over this.

I jumped on this deal Tuesday 08/26 at the Montery Park location in Southern CA.

I got the phone for $99 and used the $50 accessories bonus to get a hands free set and car charger (both only totaled about $40) so the sales rep just credited the left over $10 to the bottom line . . . so i walked out with the phone, hands free and car charger for about $98.00 after tax.

$98 - $50 Good Guys MIR - $50 cingular MIR = I made $2? . . . oh! factor in 37cent stamps so i made like a dollar? LOL

Good deal I think . . .

One complaint, no snake in the games LOL

Don't forget to factor in the cost of photocopies of all the stuff you send in for the rebates!

i think there is snake in the game, its like an easter egg, look around for it online, but basically you go into a game (i think it was erix) and you push some buttons (i think it was * and left) and you shoudl get snake, i used to do it on my other ericsson phone.

i'll be back with more info

ahh here we go

snake
Menu -> Games -> ERIX
press 1 2 3 during splash animation (on some versions of the phone its 7, 8, 9 instead)

Block Puzzle
Menu -> Games -> Q
press 3 * 5 during splash animation

Card Game
Menu -> Games -> Ripple
press 4 4 5 6 during splash animation

Secret Message
Menu -> Games -> Tetris
press 3 9 7 during splash animation

On some versions of the phone, the snake game is accessed via 7,8,9, but the rest seem the same.

I'm guessing this is a "brag and moan" type response, but there is something deal related;

I bought 2 of the phones (one for me, one for wife) on saturday due to the saturday deal. 2 phones > $200 so I got $25 off. I kinda pressured the sales guy about the $50 off accessories (they had none) so he gave me $100 credit towards anything in the store. I didn't think of using it on the phone itself, but I did pick up a kick-butt 6.1 yamaha receiver open box deal, marked down from $999 to $599, plus there was a 10% off all open box.

Moral of the story, buy at the saturday sale (may be localized event) and pressure sales guy to give you accessory money towards something else in store.

I live in the concord area (40 min east of SF) and I commute to school at CSU Hayward. This phone has everything I ever wanted so I jumped on it a couple of months ago for ~$135 /w service.

I have had no problems with the service except talking while moving in the car (like through the tunnel). As a matter of fact, the only real complaint I have is that the interface is not as well laid out as my ol motorola.

All in all though, I love this phone. It's small, it has NO moving parts, and the battery is amazing. Oh yeah, it looks good too. Great for anyone who has had problems with any of these factors.

just a reminder in case anyone who wants to cut out early on your contract.

The Cingular contract states that you have 15 days from the 1st day of activation to decide whether you want to keep the phone or not. If you cancel your service with 15 days, no early cancellation fee is assessed. You would only pay the minutes used and the activation fee (36.00) . After the 15 days, the 150.00 applies.

FYI (this also tends to apply to most other carriers... i read today that on verizon you can try out their service for 2 weeks to see if you like it... )

so far i have no problem with reception. the battery last a long time now . . . it's been blinking low battery and i've been waiting since Saturday for it to drain before I recharge. I even played the games and called 611 a few times just to drain it and it's still not dead yet. First charge was Tuesday

btw, if deal is not dead yet and the store does not have any "accessories" on the $50 credit, try asking if you can use it for something else like dvd's. I only used like $40 in "accessories" and get the other $10 credit to bottom line. So maybe you can just get like the handsfree for $15 or something and get $35 credited to the bottom like just a thought . . .

Well, in the concord area I have noticed that the phones reception is about the same as my mom's nokia 8290, however I have noticed that with one bar of reception I can still hold a clear phone call without any choping as long as hold the phone still. With the nokia 8290 I've noticed that with one bar you get choppy serive regardless of how still you hold it.
