I actually did the sway bar end links today for the fronts... Thought it'd be an easy 30min job per side max... The darn nuts were on REALLY tight. I ended up using a breaker bar to break the nut loose. Just a heads up on that part if you do plan to work on it... careful of stuck on nuts lol.

where in tx? I used to live in DFW and inspections there ran between $25-40 depending on age of the car.

maybe not yearly, but inspections are a damn good idea and should be mandatory. too many people just let their cars rot until they can't be driven, let their breaks wear down to the metal, etc. It's a public safety thing, IMO.

A driver is already responsible for their car. If someone causes a collision and vehicle maintenance is a factor, then punish on a case by case basis.

Preemptive blanket laws do not belong in the USA.

Wheels off and on jack stands. I'm not crazy enough to work with the car being supported only by a hydraulic jack

Northeast Texas. 98 miles south of Texarkana and 60 miles west of the Louisiana border.
Dallas probably does an emissions check as well. Some counties in Texas require one. Not mine.

It was their buy 3 get one free deal, opted not to get an alignment, as the place I am getting it re-safety inspected will do it for free, and there is no noticeable pull to the car when driving highway even at high speeds.

I am taking it to my Dad's mechanic who he swears by tomorrow to have him redo the safety inspection and will see what he finds.

Of course, but were the jack stands under the control arms so the suspension was loaded at normal ride height (eg: no load on sway bar and end links). Might make those nuts a little easier to work with
