I have not bothored with 3DMark03 yet, but I can't seem to play any Americas Army SF maps, at max res with Ultra High detail settings, and 2xAA, quality settings. The again, the SF maps are really laggy on all my systems. Do any of you have the same problem?

BTW, from my understanding, my card should be able to do this no prob.

It depends entirely on the game, on your system and what settings you run the game at as to whether it will run well.

Reduce the resolution and detail settings: if it gets smoother you're pushing your GPU too hard. If it doesn't your CPU/platform is too slow.

Sir Dude, try driver cleaner 2.7 and follow the readme file directions to the letter. W2k and XP have slightly different procedures so read it well.
You may need to try several versions of Cat files until you find one that can handle America's Army the best. Hopefully someone in here has found the best driver for that particular game. I cant tell you because I dont play AA.

Dude I totally just re-installed XP. Here are my specs:

Power Color Radeon 9700 Pro (I used the Omega Softmod 9700>9800)
1024mb of Kingston PC2700
Athlon XP 1700+
Maxtor DM8+

Btw, I am playing bf1942 max res with all the eye candy max, 4xAA/8xAF and it looks sweet. I think it must just be the game (Americas Army).

EDIT: My 3DMark03 scores were 4583. Is this normal for my card?
EDIT EDIT: Anyone?

That's pretty dismal. This guy got 10,000+ 3DMark03 marks with a Radeon 9600 Pro!

joking...

Part of it has to do with the SF maps. Its been awhile since I have played, but CSAR and hospital and ones like that are (or at least were) the most detailed maps in the game. Plus, there is generally lots of smoke as well. I have a 9800pro AIW with a P4C 3gig and a gig of PC3200 RAM and can generally not have much trouble with those maps, but I get some slow downs every now and then, genrelly due to lots of smoke. Your card probably just can't handle those maps at maxed settings, try toning it down abit.

i dont play aa, but i know that the unreal engine is particularly cpu limited. i would imagine your 1700+ is holding you back.

I'm running a 9700 Pro and '03 mark was around 5200 or so... I'll run it again in a bit and see for sure.

yeah, that 1700+ is definetly your bottleneck there. Also, try to run driver cleaner, then reinstall your drivers again. They may help your performance. A full install would be ideal, but as was said above, it's not always the easiest option to take

good luck!

Agreed. Try to sell your 1700+ and get a 2400+. If your MB can support 333MHz FSB Athlons, then go for a 2500+ or higher.

BTW, make sure Ultra High Detail isn't for 256MB cards.

The omega soft mod tightens memory timings and some cards have problems with it, especially if there is any heat issue. I would try the omega drivers without the soft mod. I find my 9700 pro can oc better without the soft mod. Though I only oc occasionally for a specific game.

Hm...What are your system specs? Because if you have around what my specs are, there is something wrong. Ronnn I think I will try the normal Omega Drivers, and see if that makes a difference. Pete my MoBo is a little old, I know it can do a 2400+ but I'm not sure about the 2500+. lemme' ask my roommate (It was his computer, now it's mine).

System specs are in my sig... Running the latest ATI drivers and Rage 3D Tweak. The 9700Pro is clocked at 337.50 / 324 and just got a 5134 on Mark'03.
With just the straight ATI drives and stock settings I get into the 4900's and haven't noticed much difference when running the Omega drivers...

I haven't run 03 on my 9700 pro, but at everything stock speeds, I got 15,200 with my 9700 Pro and an XP2500 Barton.. again.. no overclocks, and that was a long time ago... i believe the ATI 3.3 drivers if i am not mistaken.

He's got a 2800+, you've got a 1700+, there's the difference in your scores, don't trip. My roomate has a 1700+ with a 9700 pro and you guys get the same scores, you're fine.

yup, that's my thought... depends on his overclock at the moment, but that's the diff most likely.

Edit: And if I pump the FSB up to 205 I'm at 5283 on the Mark'03...

Ok, that's good news *wipes sweat beads off of head*. Oh and Abnoth, I'm not overclocking at all right now, stock speeds.

Just for reference, I'll tell you that I'm getting about 4750 avg. from 3dMark03 with my ATI R9700 AIW non-pro, clocked at 306 and memory running at 300 (defaults are 275/270). I was actually a bit surprised at that. Here's the rest of the specs:

T-bred 2400+ at 2.11 ghz
256mb pc3200 Samsung @ fsb 211

I had the cpu clocked higher but due to some newly found stability issues I had to bring it down a bit.
