Well, the OP came on here to yank his own crank and hasn't participated in the discussion at all. Why post about your car, then not interact with people who are commenting about it?

Besides, if you don't want people's input then don't post about it in a friggin' public forum. Rogodin is entitled to his opinion and is no more a dick than you are for talking out of your ass.

I don't like the car either. But I don't post shit like that on here.

Only 40 bhp from the SC kit? I mean clearly it's an economy motor with a blower strapped on it & no supporting mods, so there's only so much you can do, but 200HP/184TQ from a blown 2.4L seems a bit low. Ah well, still a 25% increase, could be worse.

Ech, still not exactly a speed demon:

After a few more runs down the drag strip, we nail the launch and click off a 7.2-second 0-to-60 time and a 15.1-second quarter-mile. Solid times that are identical to the numbers we ran in the Civic Si.

Yeah, the performance is still pretty laughable. I may not understand it, but if he wants to throw money at his econobox then that's up to him.

You're getting into Mazdaspeed3 or even WRX/LGT territory for that money. I understand doing what you can with what you got, but at some point you gotta say "I"ll wait until I can get a platform worth modding..."

Car looks good. To the other asshats above, it's clear this person has the money to buy a more expensive car. They more than likely PREFER to have the tC. It's a popular car with the tuner crowd now and with many that also have more exotic cars in their stables.

+40WHP is a pretty big difference and probably enough for someone that doesn't need to drive their wiener around. Since you bothered to search the guy, you will see he is also running the 9.5lb pulley and not stock. I know the 12lb pulley is good for about 300WHP which is fast.

I have no doubt Edmunds matched the stock s/c'd tC to the Civic Si they tested...those are crappy times though and both should be just be under 7 secs 0-60, still around 15sec for the 1/4. They aren't meant to beat everything on the road though...they perform very well and get great mileage in addition to being very practical.

When I boost my car I am going for +150RWHP max. There are guys running double and triple that without problems and the difference in cost isn't much if you are rebuilding the engine anyway. However, driving a car with too much power is something I don't care for in a daily driver especially one driven in rain. I could buy something new, or even a used corvette, firehawk or cobra; but I like the car I bought for myself.

haha.. sorry about not replying guys.. Holidays are a bitch. Just got back from all the traveling and saw the thread again. Anyways.. let's see if i can give you guys more info.

1. the car does have a supercharger. it's about 210hp to the wheels. The stock tc puts out about 160hp at the crank.. or about 140 to the wheel.. so i gained about 70hp from the SC. It's not a roots type SC, but more of a centrifugal type, and i'm running 9.5lb of boost on a modified SC pulley. I am not a speed demon, but i do like the extra power. And plus i'm in CA and as you know, we have strict CARB laws here. The TRD kit is CARB legal and is about the only option for power for us CA folks. I could have gone the turbo route but i wanted to keep it legal in case i ever get pulled over. And besides, the TRD SC doesn't void the warranty.

2. Yes, i could have started with a bigger/faster/better/blahblah car.. but where does it end? I would have ended up modding something more expensive then what i could afford. You have to draw the line somewhere. At the time, i was looking for a cheap reliable coupe that didn't look so horrible. The tC fit the bill perfectly and came fully loaded with all the normal options as standard. I couldn't wait for the Civic Si to come out.. and plus.. i LOVE the way the tC looks. So i start with what i can afford.

3. As for the paint, maintenance is same as usual. No waxing obviously, but you still wash like normal. The paint DOES have a clearcoat on it, but it's a flat clear. It goes on shiny, but dries to a dull flat look.

4. as for the hood. yeah. so? i like the look. i'm sure there are tons of people out there doing stuff i wouldn't personally do, but that's the beauty of the car culture. You do what you like. I mean, i'd hate to see the same cookie cutter cars with the same cookie cutter mods everywhere. who the hell wants to see that? (but for those of you who totally totally disagree, don't worry.. i painted my oem hood the same color also. I can always switch back to the oem hood whenever i want)

My friend painted it for me. He's starting out so he doesn't have his own shop yet, but his company is Midnight Garage located in Walnut, CA. He shares the shop with a friend of his.

Interesting, with the black rims it's got a "Robocop" look to it, nice ride though..

300whp with stock internals? Really?

To the OP, like the paint....lose the stickers and you have a winner.

you do realize, that even at 15.1, thats 20yr old mazda sports car territory, and scion is toyota's "sporty" car section. the stock n/a rx-7(like mine) ran 15.5 stock, with 146hp weighing in at 2600-2700lbs.

either way, i like the paint and it does look good. the hood is a bit different but it doesn't make the car look that ricey or anything and i may have to go that route myself since the aluminum hood for my car is nearly impossible to find and costs just as much as a CF one. i wanna get my car in flat/matte black. I'm more and more sure on this every day, its just....different.

I live in cali too, and if you were REALLY worried about getting popped by the police you wouldn't have put on stickers/carbon fiber to tell the cops, HEY LOOK AT ME I RACE. You could have looked stocked on the outside, but on the inside with a nice big turbo/sc and ran a cut-out/muffler and they wouldn't look at you twice.

Yes, but to each his own. LOL, I'm particularly anal about this though.....oil change reminder stickers don't last more than 30 seconds on my windshield.
