haha.. sorry about not replying guys.. Holidays are a bitch. Just got back from all the traveling and saw the thread again. Anyways.. let's see if i can give you guys more info.
1. the car does have a supercharger. it's about 210hp to the wheels. The stock tc puts out about 160hp at the crank.. or about 140 to the wheel.. so i gained about 70hp from the SC. It's not a roots type SC, but more of a centrifugal type, and i'm running 9.5lb of boost on a modified SC pulley. I am not a speed demon, but i do like the extra power. And plus i'm in CA and as you know, we have strict CARB laws here. The TRD kit is CARB legal and is about the only option for power for us CA folks. I could have gone the turbo route but i wanted to keep it legal in case i ever get pulled over. And besides, the TRD SC doesn't void the warranty.
2. Yes, i could have started with a bigger/faster/better/blahblah car.. but where does it end? I would have ended up modding something more expensive then what i could afford. You have to draw the line somewhere. At the time, i was looking for a cheap reliable coupe that didn't look so horrible. The tC fit the bill perfectly and came fully loaded with all the normal options as standard. I couldn't wait for the Civic Si to come out.. and plus.. i LOVE the way the tC looks. So i start with what i can afford.
3. As for the paint, maintenance is same as usual. No waxing obviously, but you still wash like normal. The paint DOES have a clearcoat on it, but it's a flat clear. It goes on shiny, but dries to a dull flat look.
4. as for the hood. yeah. so? i like the look. i'm sure there are tons of people out there doing stuff i wouldn't personally do, but that's the beauty of the car culture. You do what you like. I mean, i'd hate to see the same cookie cutter cars with the same cookie cutter mods everywhere. who the hell wants to see that? (but for those of you who totally totally disagree, don't worry.. i painted my oem hood the same color also. I can always switch back to the oem hood whenever i want)
