Just got my new 2000+ XP

Right, I had ordered a 2000+ XP, which I was reckoning to be a Thoroughbred 'B' (as its serial # was DUT3C) but when I finally got the chip it turns out that the number is AXDA2000DKT3C, so i was just wondering what it is, and whether I should return it.

On a slightly different note, I also have just ordered a MSI K7N2-L (cheapest NForce I could find in England that isn't the Leadtek) and I was wondering if anyone knows if I would be able to access the higher multipliers without a mod, and if I do need a mod what the easiest method is?

Unfortunately unless a retailer promises a specfic core rev, you are just going to get luck-of-the-draw. I imagine the retailer you bought it from in England didn't have that much sales volume...so the inventory turnover is lower. I would try to return the chip. I don't know how much shipping would be or even if they can even ship, but maybe you can buy the XP 2100+ at NewEgg.com. Those are guaranteed to be T-bred 'B's and should achieve a very nice overclock.

You should be able to access the highest multipliers without the mod but sometimes the NForce2's have older funky BIOSes that don't cooperate. Just make sure you have good cooling and experiment once you get your T-bred 'B'.

Well, since the site did specify the core that shouldn't be a problem. But really I'm just wondering what they have sent me... the only other DKT3C's I can find are Athlon MPs
