Just got my Ultra 120, does the base look good to you?

just received it. Has a lot of machine marks/grooves and some weird grease mark? I haven't wiped it yet w/ rubbing alcohol but wanted to know if this base seemed good enough? I plan on OC'ng to the max ability of my 6850.

Looks the same as mine did when I got it. Seems to work perfectly fine to me.

Get a razor blade or something like glass and see if the base of the HS is flat.

The reflections make it seem like it's not flat. You should probably lap it for best results.

you could but there's no guarantee you'll get one that is.

it seems like most people aren't get perfectly flat ultras.

non-flat surfaces was the reason why i didn't buy the extreme....

ok took some flat edge pics...seems pretty flat to me..the only disconcerting issue for me is that weird mark on the bottom. i tried to wipe it w/ alcohol, but didn't work too well.what do you guys think?

If it seems flat to you, then just install it and see how it works for you.

Can't go wrong with a Tuniq Tower now can you.....

I have heard about a lot of qc issues from those Ultra 120 Extremes lately. May as well lap it, can't hurt and it's basically free. If anything, it will help, even if it was pretty flat.
