Just got new SBLive XGamer card. Now what?

I recently got my hands on a used SBLive XGamer card. Since I was using onboard sound, I put the SBLive in my system. Downloaded Creative's latest driver, and checked device manager and it says "Live Value". I know the card is an XGamer, it has CT4760 written on it in 2 places, and has the gold mini jacks.

Plus I hear there's something about Liveware that I should install?

My basic questions are, is the ALC650 onboard sound better than SBLive for gaming? What kind of a frame rate can I expect going from onboard to the Live? And what drivers should I get? (running winxp by the way)

The framerate differences might be on the magnitude of 3-5%.

As for if it's better, it is quite a bit better, basic EAX hardware support. And it'll probalby sound better.
But have you already disabled onboard sound?

THe difference between the value and the other cards is simply the extras they come with, no hardware difference that I know of.

Yup, its just a SBLive that comes with games.

Yep, onboard sound has been disabled.

Plus I did some searching, and found a page that talked about modding the Audigy 2 drivers and installing it on Audigy1 and SBLive cards. I did it, and it works like a charm. Plus, the sound quality compared to regular SBLive drivers is a lot better.

If you dont read all of that, then keep the following in mind if you're installing the audigy 2 drivers on a SBLive:

1) DO NOT install Media Source
2) DO NOT install EAX Console
3) DO NOT install Sound Calibration
4) DO NOT install DVD Audio

If you wanna use any of the others, then edit the setup.ini file in each of the program's directories and remove everything after the third line. Then install the updates on the Creative website (under Audigy 2), and it should work fine.
