Just got ripped off, what can i do?

I go out to my truck this morning, around 11am, open the door, and i see nothing but stereo wires, an empty bench seat and a clean floor, i get in, then it hits me, someone stole my stereo, cds, jacket, backpack w/ books and the FREAKING change from a change holder on the dash...

im still stunned, nothing has happened like this to me before, what the hell, i work my ass off everyday, im a nice guy, i do my part, and someone jacks my stuff..

what can i do about it...i talked to my mother, she said i can call the insurance company and see what they can do for me, im not sure on the coverage for stolen stuff though...can the police do anything? file a report..does that get me anywhere?

please tell me what i can do in this situation, im fearing i can do nothing...

I am sorry for your loss. To be bluntly honest, there is nothing you can really do unless the police get really lucky finding your stuff. Call insurance company and see what they can do for you. I suggest you take your claim money and buy a really loud car alarm.

Well someone has to pay for this. It doesn't really matter who I guess, so long as someone gets what's coming to them. Go get your ball bat and whack out the neighbor kid or something. If he plays innocent whack him again. That'll teach him to break into your truck.

Your automotive insurance will cover any damage to the vehicle (ie theft of the indash player, hope you don't have a big deductible on comprehensive).

Your home insurance (if you have that, if you are away at school you are covered by your parents plan) will cover the items in the car, there is typically a $250 deductible on home insurance policies so expect to eat the automotive and home insurance deductible.

Some a-holes tried to steal my dad's BMW twice, so we got this coolio Alarm system that doesn't make any sounds that you can hear on a normal frequencey, but a hella powerfull sub-sonic tune, that will make you feel (i have experience with that thing) like yer brains are boilin' and will make anyone unprepared run for their life.

As for insurance, we had our Van (89 MAzda) broken once, and the setereo along with the cup holder (?!) was stolen. AAA gave us 1000 as compensation, them be nice.

yeah.. it prolly depends on yer insurance company too and how kind they are
