Not to mention that saying something like that, on the Internet or anywhere else, makes you an asstard who needs to be bitch-slapped with a brick.

Meh, I don't blame him for being pissed and venting; assuming that's all he's doing.

OP: Sucks more than I can imagine, but the most I can recommend is either get drunk with sympathetic friends or get drunk alone. Angostura or Novo Fogo Rum is good. So is Malloye Irish Whiskey. One way or another you'll get through this, make sure it's the best way possible. Unload your shit and keep moving, you'll be fine.

I've seen perfectly happy women with perfectly good men say "fuck it" at 45 and just "re-invent" themselves. No violence, no cheating, no abuse, just 'we grew apart' translation: she doesn't want to feel guilty when she fucks around.

Don't be dumbasses boys; you can do everything right and she can still betray you when she realizes that she's about to run out of looks...

I got robbed once by a scum bad fuck headed lawyer. I too had a Wells Fargo account, only had $8 in it. I had a medical bill go to collections then it went to a lawyers office and he pulled a form of interrogatories on me and I couldn't lie on the form so I had to put down my bank account. This mother fucker pulled $80 from me and I only had $8 in the account! I called the dumb bastards at Wells Fargo and they told me there was nothing they could do since it was a legal thing. I'm like BULL SHIT! You fucks, I only had $8 in the account! Now I have another bill for $150 with the added interest of the original $80 I have to pay off all because of this cock sucking lawyer! I have 10 more months to pay this bill off and I'm done with the mother fucker.

Given the OP this Chris Brown seems to be appropriate on more than one level.

Indeed, arguing about the level of currency available in a checking account you forgot about is likely petty and meaningless. Further, you will likely successfully derail the thread with the petty amount of money in your story; despite that petty amount of money being the 'entire joke' in the first place.

Many trol-lawlz to you sr.

Solution is simple, just sell all her shit and profit $$$$$$. All her shit is yours anyway, it's ebay and craigslist time for you.

My wife and I have had our money in a joint account for 22 years. So I guess I'm an idiot.

17 years here. But we were "young and stupid" and "it wouldn't last" when we got married.

Oh yeah, wife's names are on all the accounts. I guess I'm doing it wrong too.

The CDC has great marriage statistics. They call it "duration of first marriage".

The 50% divorce rate is heavily skewed by marriages of people <20yo and people without college degrees.

Marriages have a much higher percentage if you are married 25yo+.

she probably needed it for a deposit on a condo with her new boyfriend. if youre a dude and you have good income youre stupid to give your wife access to all of it. most guys dont realize just how much money chicks spend and how much better off they would be if they didnt have someone spending their hard earned bank

if you think her looting ur accounts is bad just wait til shes screwing you over in court with attorneys whos bills youre gonna have to pay

ive seen this a million times as well, some bitch has a great well educated husband with a good job, and screws around with a phucken bum, and then destroys decades worth of savings for the bum. when i see stuff like that i cant believe someone could be that stupid but thats why u should never give a beach access to all your income

We aren't allowed to link L&R threads, but lol, search for the op's second most recent thread. Pretty sure he's trolling now.

Who in their right mind would MARRY someone they don't trust with a joint account?
That's the kicker right there.

We've been together for more than a third of our lives. I have a bit of a handle on her. Yes, she's changed and a lot of it hasn't been for the better, but I still trust her and she so far has not given me reason not to.

Since you aren't a psychic, there is no way to have known this at first or for many years. You took a risk and got lucky. That doesn't mean that the risk was reasonable or an intelligent way of doing things.

Someone sounds bitter.

5yrs married, joint accounts ever since we tied the knot. One savings and one checkings we both do our finances from.

Just pointing out reality for those that need a reality check. Doing something risky and emotion based doesn't make it magically intelligent just because you got lucky.

If you bothered reading, I never comingled finances in my marriage. This being in the case, how could I possibly be bitter if I never did something stupid in the first place?

Except that there is loads of solid physical evidence that bad things are likely to happen to people who drive without a seat belt, whereas the notion that bad things are likely to happen to people who get married and combine their finances is just your ignorant assumption.

The evidence of bad things happening to those that get divorced that comingle finances is HUGE. There is also a high rate of divorce.

Bad things do not happen to people that drive without a seat belt. Bad things happen to those who CRASH without a seat belt. The analogy is perfectly sound. You could be lucky and never have an accident. This does not make driving without a seat belt a smart thing to do however.

Bad things also happen to people walking down the street. So I assume you would advise against walking down the street.

The joint bank account is the least of your worries. If you haven't shut down any and all forms of credit better do so quick. Get out the life lock and make sure you know the second anyone (she) tries to open new lines of credit using your name.

And, as said before, hire the meanest pit bull female lawyer you can find.

Enjoy your new-found freedom

Thing is OP when the divorce is filed that will be considered "community money" and she will be forced to split it with you 50/50 unless as someone else mentioned it was a huge chunk and she skips town with it, now you might not ever find it/her and if you do years later it will be "sorry, I spent it". I'd get a lawyer ASAP dude.

The problem is is if she took the money and 'no longer has it', you can't get 50/50 back.

This is the same problem with judgements. It's easy to get a $10,000 judgement against someone, but collecting it is a different matter.

In summary, joint accounts work great until the relationship doesn't. Whether that's professional, romantic or family.

It's technically 100% anyone's money on the account.

We've had joint accounts for 20+ years, no problems.

I haven't been that lucky. My wife still "accidently" buys stuff like kiddie toys, lunch with the girls, or hair supplies from our joint account. That's NOT cool with me, since that account is supposed to be only for utility and mortgage payments.

Problem is that 50% of people do not get bad stuff done to them walking down the street.
Damn. 50%?

I remember being about twelve years old and having a long argument with a (not very bright) neighbor kid who insisted that if you were to just run across the street at any time without regard for traffic that you had a 50/50 chance of being hit by a car. In his little world, you'll either be hit or you wont be hit. Two possible outcomes, so the odds are 50%.
