I have a difficult time eating my greens, so I made a nutriblast. My container was filled with kale, spinach, blueberries and strawberries! A good way to get your daily serving of fruit and veggies.

Delicious!

Don't let the kale sit in the fridge too long. Stinks the place up. The nutribullet is a hell of a lot better than a juicer.

I like it. It's so easy to clean which is a big plus. I paid $100 for mine and I plan to use it everyday.

Thanks for the tip on kale.

Try adding Chinese bitter cucumber. You will hardly taste the bitterness if you add the stuff u listed on your thread. Bitter melon outclass all veg in nutrition terms.

If that's the case add chicken nuggets in your blender then.

Ok. I will look it up, and I will consider using it.

Thanks.

So, as someone who is absolutely terrible about getting veggies because they all taste terrible... how does this taste?

I've used relatively small amounts of baby leafy greens in peanut butter & banana & oat smoothies, and it doesn't necessarily taste like greens but it develops a very strange, almost minty, herbal background note. I'd rather that not be in there, but it's good for me and drinkable so... eh.

Does it say, taste like a fruit smoothie that has that leafy background taste? I don't have any of those ingredients on hand...

Don't put too much! I have warned you. If it does taste awfully bitter add 1 spoon of honey. Do not add sugar whatever you do.

My "go to" smoothie is one whole avacado, a frozen banana, frozen pineapple and a pile of spinach. I'll use some milk and a V8 splash fruit juice for the base. That is a tasty breakfast. Toss in a giant scoop of protein powder and you'll fortify even more.

I've got a vitamix so everything is pulverized to a liquified, smoothie goodness. Flavor is a light banana with a bit of sweetness from the fruit juice. Spinach and avacado are masked by the banana and pineapple.

Plenty of recipes online. Can definitely end up with one that tastes like grass if you're experimenting. The fruit helps.

It's quite enjoyable. You have to add fruit to make it taste good. If you went with an all vegetable drink you're going to have a difficult time drinking it. I like to go with 60-70% veggies and 30-40% fruit. The darker the better. Blueberries, raspberries, strawberries are what I like to use. You can also use oranges and apples as well. You can search online for a ton of green drink recipes. You need to be careful with the amount of fruit because of the sugars. This is why my drinks are loaded with veggies and I use the fruit as a sweetener.

Montel Williams has MS and he swears by green drinks.

Like I said just add honey or icecream and of course add the sugary fruits like Strawberries and the bitterness will go away. ^_^

I used to juice a lot but it became too much of a hassle and I never really noticed anything difference. My standard recipe included carrots, spinach, celery, cilantro, garlic, beets, ginger, green cabbage and apple. It actually tasted quite good but gotta be careful with the ginger and garlic... don't go crazy with those two.

Made my first green smoothie with my new Blendtec yesterday.
cup of pineapple+juice, 1 apple, 1 carrot, half a frozen banana, two huge handfuls of kale/swiss chard/etc greens, and some water. turned out pretty good.

This thread encouraged me to make my own smoothie for the first time ever. My wife normally makes them once or twice a week for breakfast. I put in about 1/4 frozen mixed fruit, a bunch of spinach, and then filled the rest of the cut up with orange juice. I think I'll start doing this more often. Need to find some good recipes for getting my daily fruits and vegetables - I am also terrible at eating them regularly.

My favorite atm is chocolate almond milk, half a banana, 2 ice cubes, some choc protein powder, and as much spinach as i can cram in there.

Anyone here tried homemade SMoothie icecream?

It won't really make "ice cream" per se. It's more of a soft serve sort of texture. Ice + chocolate milk + sweetened condensed milk + touch of vanilla = Wendy's frosty.

I drink one of these every day. Not saying it tastes good. Tastes mostly like celery. D:

www.flickr.com

apparently google has a feature where if you google something like kale vs bittermelon it pops up nutrition facts for the food (only works with 2 foods at a time though)

roughly
kale > spinach > bittermelon (pods raw)
bittermelon has a lot of vitamin c, but that's already found in many fruits
this doesn't tell the whole story of course.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Momordica_charantia

as per Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
Purported Uses [of bitter melon]
Cancer prevention
Diabetes
Fever
HIV and AIDS
Infections

I don't put vegetables in my smoothies... maybe I should start doing that.
I just put some of whatever fruits I have and whatever fruit juice and ice . I sometimes put yogurt.
