Just in Boy Scouts will allow boys & girls

I don't care what the Boy Scouts choose to do here, it is their organization, their choice. But, I do have an opinion on how this came to be, overly PC gender nonsense. Just 20 years ago the Boy Scouts fought in court (and won) the right to not have to take in girls. In recent years it has been in the news again, and people are afraid to do anything that isn't PC these days.

Did you read the Boy Scouts' justification? It's to increase membership and dens are still gender-specific. So your opinion is wrong according to the Boy Scouts.

I'm not aware of any public or national movement that has been calling for the integration of both boys and girls into its rank. So I'm calling BS on your claim.

Some people might have looked at this and thought "hmm, maybe the parents who actually run this organization are tired of excluding their daughters from their sons' scouting program, and maybe some of the were starting to leave for other organizations that don't have those kinds of rules".

But not you. You weren't fooled. You saw through the bullshit and realized it was PC gender nonsense. The SJWs who relentless protested and boycotted the Boy Scouts. I mean, I haven't seen any news about that, but that's probably because of the liberal media.

And even though you don't care what the Boy Scouts choose to do with their organization, you do care enough about PC gender nonsense to post in this thread about it. I can't even begin to tell you how sane and reasonable that makes you sound.

I've read that the scouts have had declining membership for quite a while. This might just be an attempt to get new members.

I did see a Ford commerical the other day that showed a girl making a Pinewood Derby car.

Most of those stories are from the last few years, which was the claim I made. That this has been a topic recently, in the news more. Geez...

I'm an assistant scout master and knew about this for awhile.

Lets them join up with troops, rank up and pursue Eagle.
While there will be some extra consideration once girls join the troops this will be a good thing.
When you look at the program and what it tries to do, gender shouldn't matter.

You go to any major scout outing, you'll see girls\women there anyway.

You claimed that this move was caused by the scouts to be more PC due to pressure, you then posted a link to said pressure which amounted to a few stories throughout the years which gained minimal traction. Exactly. If the program was ordinarily intended to make good men out of boys then their is no reason why those same lessons can't make good women from little girls. I'm not aware of any morals or virtues that only apply to men.

From our perspective at the local level the only thing that we need to deal with is sleeping arrangements during campouts. At least until enough girls join up to fill out a patrol.
Otherwise the girls mom better be prepared to sign up.

Scout store might need to revisit sizing on uniforms for some girls (shirts)

I was a Cub Scout Wolf - Webelo, was a Boy Scout, got to first or second class before I dropped out around 14. Went to summer camp a few times, blue swimmer, shot .22's, made fires, built flag stands out of lumber and twine, did all the fun stuff. It was a good experience for me.

And again, I don't care if girls are allowed, I think there could very well be great lessons for girls the same as boys. But, as I said, the push behind this is today's PC environment.

In theory there shouldn't be an issue with boys and girls sleeping in the same tents. The moral values and good judgment taught to scout members should be enough to prevent any foul play from occurring and strict rules should prevent inappropriate consenting behavior from happening in such an environment.

In theory, such a situation would also teach boys and girls that they are equals and that forcing yourself on another is wrong and treating girls different than boys is also wrong. Basically it would remove the societal norms of women be subservient to men and reduce the number of Harvey Weinsteins in this country.

I don't have much experience with girl scouts, but the little bit of research I've done seems like they are still preparing girls for the 1950s, not 2030.
