Here is where it gets to a CPU problem though...I had to pull off my CNPS9500 in order to remove the old power supply. Something very annoying that happens with my board though is each time I pull off the HSF, the processor sticks to it and pulls up out of the socket with the little metal clip on the MB still held down regardless of how careful I am.
Well, I tried to start up my comp shortly after everything was reinstalled and it sounded like it was working but my monitor stayed in power save mode...
I tried unplugging the new powersupply connectors on the MB (20 pin +4 Pin I think they are) and the PCI-E power plug and plugged my old PSU in those spots. I have hte same issue!
Is my processor no longer useable or could it be some other problem?
Ugh...I'm ashamed to say this but while I had my comp unplugged, I decided to try a VDimm mod at the same time which is something else that could have caused the problem. Now, I tried turning it on once with the mod done and then quickly turned it off (never had anything show on the monitor once again) and undid the mod.
I never had any bad smells or anything along those lines (the computer has been on for much less than a minute total since the PSU replacement) and the one chip of RAM that I yanked had no visible damage, darkening, or scent.
The mod I did was supposed to be a 3.14v mod on my A-Data 4x512mb RAM. When I heard that people have gone up to 3.5 or 3.6, I figured that 3.14 was safe.
Last time I tried to attempt a fix was yanking the CMOS battery to try to reset that but also, that left me with the same problem :/.
I hope I wasn't wrong there :/
Thanks!
