Been around for a while and I used to fold but for whatever reason I stopped. I just rebuilt my main machine at home and installed on that as well as a couple others I keep running 24x7.

My rebuilt rig is as follows:
Intel i7 920 w/ Cooler Master V8
Asus WS P6T6 WS Revolution
OCZ DDR3 1600 12GB
EVGA 295 GTX
ENERMAX REVOLUTION85+ ERV1050EWT 1050W PS
LG 6x BD/HD-DVD
LG 22x DVD-RW
Coolermaster Cosmos Case w/ Window

My upgrade gives me a spare 8800 GTS (G92) 512MB card just laying around. Is it possible to run 2 versions of the GPU client on two different cards? If so, I may keep it and just fold away with it. I haven't messed around with overclocking yet, just got things built this last weekend.

Thoughts? Is it possible and is it worth it?

Not sure I understand. You have only one motherboard, and 2 different video cards, and wish to fold both cards on the same motherboard ?

If so, no it won't work. They must be of the same chipset from my experience.

It's the number of shaders on the cards that needs to match.

but Mark's right, those two cards will not fold together without issues on the same PC.

Thanks for the response. The only reason I asked was the newer nvidia drivers allow a card to be a stand alone physx processing card so I was wondering if there was a way to configure it to fold seperatly as well.

You can take some advantage of that second card if you are installing it for PhysX anyway. The way I understood the posts at the f@h forum that I've seen about it, at least one of the cards gets limited to less than it's full potential. Some say it won't work at all, some say it doesn't work very well.

I suggest giving it a try since you have the card anyway and are interested in installing it for the PhysX features.

Here's a guide to set it up if you want to give it a whirl

That could get really interesting with a quad CrossFire capable mobo... would mean maximum efficiency in creating PPD

I have cards with different shaders folding on the same board. The 2nd card is dumbed way down though

Too many cards, to little time to research.

Keep folding,

I think it has to be the same core (IE like 88 or 92), but can have different shader speeds and pixel processors....

I know you can run a 8800GT with a 9800GT but for the most part many of them are identical...but say like a 8800GTS 320mb version card and a GTX+, I think will have issues getting them to run correctly...
