Just moved to Android from iOS- Is amazon underground app safe?

Only smart phone I ever had has been iOS. My 5c battery is toast and the lightning port barely works so I just got a 2015 Moto G.

Got it yesterday and seem to have most things figured out and the phone setup OK. Other than my Lorex home surveillance app not working I have everything I need.

Except my Amazon video app. Seems I have to download the Amazon Underground app to be able to get the video app. It seems a little shady to me. Google already gets enough of my info I don't really want Amazon getting even more.

So, is it safe to use Amazon Underground?

Yeah, amazon likes to use their own app store because they have their own phones, the amazon fire phones, which kinda suck, but since they have their own app store they try not to release their apps to the google play store, forcing you to get their app if you want to get their other apps. It's dumb, but it's how it works. If you really want you can probably search for an APK and install it directly or something.

I did a search at the above link for lorex and I see a handful of lorex apps. If so I'm guessing Play is already installed on your phone so just grab it from Play. Or try searching for the apk and install it manually like mnewsham suggested.

You only need to do it when you want to install the Amazon app. Afterwards you could re-enable it.

with 5.1.1 on the note5 it even asks if you want to enable it only for that app install and it will automatically re-enable it after that install.

Welcome to android, you will be datamined, all resistance is futile.

Root that thing and install xprivacy, then all they will get is a string of "DEFACED" in place of your info.
Will it stop google? Probably not, but you will realize how much data even simple apps amass on you.

Stock android is the worst smartphone platform regarding privacy, get xprivacy a things improve a LOT at the cost of permission request popups (one time requests, but it gets annoying when apps want to access to every single bit of info on your phone for no good reason besides them reselling it to marketers) and your warranty.

I have the app- it doesn't work on Lollipop.

Should work on devices running android 4.0.3 or newer. Not sure if there are certain hardware requirements otherwise though.
