Just moved to San Diego: What Jack-In-The-Box item should I order?

OK, coming from the Atlanta region, I haven't tried many of the chains we have here in San Diego, including Jack-In-The-Box. And, no, I'm not looking for better restauraunt recommendations... I've already eaten at better places on previous visits and I've even returned to Bronx Pizza since arriving to stay (not sure if I can afford to return to Bucca de Peppo's or the Thai place I visited with the flaming duck).

Yeah, it sounds weird to ask for recommendations for a fast-food joint, but I already made the mistake of ordering a combo at In-N-Out and discovering their TERRIBLE fries... I don't care how fresh they are if they taste like cardboard. If there is no combo discount and they taste terrible, why have the carbs? Next time it'll be just a burger with fresh onions and Diet Coke.

So what is a good item that can serve as an "example" of what JitB is all about? The e-coli burger (that wasn't fair; these days, they blame the beef supplier)?

I like their sourdough jack. Jack in the box fries are better, but I don't like their burgers as much. Go for the heartattack and get the.. double bacon cheeseburger or something. It's a pretty generic fast food place *shrugs*.

In-N-Out fries are pretty hit or miss, a miss for most.

99c chicken sandwich, ask for buttermilk sauce.

2 tacos for 99c, they give you hot sauce. mix the hot sauce into the buttermilk and win

as you can see I abuse the value menu a lot. I've tried a few of their other burgers too and they aren't bad but a more active fast food eater could probably help you.

Oh yea, they have pretty good milkshakes. oreo is always solid but they are good about changing their flavors around.

edit: their curly fries are pretty solid too.

hmm... if you want classic go for the bacon ultimate cheeseburger combo (with large oreo shake instead of soda, and feel free to sub curly fries if thats your thing) and then 2 tacos for a buck. they also have a new sirloin burger thats pretty good if you get it with grilled onions and swiss.

They have a sourdough mushroom swiss type thing don't they? IIRC, there's some pretty smooth burger that comes on sourdough bred. It's really good!

I like their bacon cheddar potato wedges. It's a side, but I treat it like a meal. Probably has enough calories for two or three meals.

OK, I've decided to make two visits:
Big Deal + shake
Burger combo (Sourdough or Heart-attack, curly fries, Diet Coke) + wedges

I'll have to share with my sister. Thanks!

i like getting their breakfast jacks and putting their hash brown sticks in it with ketchup. one of the best breakfast sandwiches IMO and they serve it all day. it consists of ham, cheese, and a fried egg in a bun.

i also like getting their basic chicken sandwiches and put some of their hot sauce (which isn't hot at all but i like the flavor) on it.

some jack in the boxes currently have the jumbo deal for $2.99. a jumbo jack, 2 tacos, and a small fry. pretty decent econo meal.

i like their sirloin burgers too, i had them semi-frequently when they had coupons for them.

jack's spicy chicken with cheese (they use jack cheese)
curly fries
shakes

their salads are also pretty good for a fast food place...not that it'd matter to you.

your mistake at in&out was to get plain fries. get twice fried fries, or animal style fries. (i prefer twice fried)

Jumbo Jack for $1.29 (they might have raised the prices).

Once the price of the meal starts heading north of $5-6, I stop seeing the point of fast food.

I always figured Jack in the Box was a national chain. Ah well.

Kangaroo meat tacos (like mine with no sauce and no lettuce) and grilled chicken strips are good stuffs.

Can't go wrong with the Ultimate Cheeseburger, Curly Fries, and a shake. I think I'm gonna get some for lunch tomorrow.
