I owned 2 5970s in past and never had any issues. I thought they were stellar cards.

Its not bad card, but it seemed to lack in a few area's. The fan noise really got to me. My 580's do better in BC2 which is what I really wanted.

my personal experience with a single 580GTX.

Its not enough to run everything at max settings @ 1920x1200.

I think 2 x 570 would be enough to run it.

At your 30inch display, i wouldnt look at anything but 2 580GTX, and possibly even a third if u find it lacking.

Meh just came off quadfire..
Have fun with those...

Seriously.. ive had nothing but hell on quadfire, so i kinda understand what the OP is feeling.

i have my GTX 580 SLI running temporarily on my 775 W Thermaltake PSU. The very highest draw from the wall i have seen in Crysis is 688 W and 720 W peak in Vantage (38548 score), so i am really pushing it - my 850 W PSU will be fine.

BUT .. i am getting 39.5 FPS Average in Crysis - @ 2560x1600, Very High plus 2xAA/16xAF

As a note, GTX 580 SLI is quieter than HD 6970 CF and the cards run slightly cooler to boot in an X58 MB where they are so close together (87C for GTX 580/90C HD 5970).
--Of course, it is $1000 vs. $600 (for flashed HD 6950s). Compare with CF'd 6970s = 35 FPS average.

But count me impressed that Crysis (2007) can finally run smoothly on CF'd or SLI'd flagship cards. Now i really do have to get back to less glamorous work on my SSD eval and i won't be back here for awhile.

Aloha and happy new year!

Yeah I was getting about 10fps. Obviously something isn't right. I don't really play crysis, i was just doing a little testing. Probably wont bother to even look at what the issue is. It plays all my games perfectly.

Battlefield 2 at 500FPS!!!!! ZOMG

...A lot of 5970 haters in here... add me to the list. I don't hate Crossfire...just the 5970. I should have learned my lesson from the 4870x2... never again.

OP: I picked up a pair of Asus 580s from Newegg too...(Thursday). Very happy so far.

Best cards I've had in a while... 900MHz seems so be the ..safe oc.. limit for me. Both cards will do 850 on stock voltage. I can bench them at 950 no problem but they are not OCCT stable (power throttling/ocp disabled). If a card won't pass OCCT full load then it will eventually crash in a game (from my experience). It's not like it matters either way since they are so fast stock.

I've recently (past year) had a GTX 285, GTX 295 Quad SLI, 5850, 5970, 5970/5870 Tri-Fire, GTX 480, 2x GTX 470s, 2x GTX 570s, and now the 580s. I quit...until next gen.

How's that 3011 working out for you? I recently picked up an AW2310. 120Hz is great and 3D Vision is neat I just don't know if I can live with a TN panel. I'm on my second AW2310 as the first one was unacceptable(back light bleed and other issues...2nd monitor is much better).
