I still have time to change any of these parts or cancel the entire order:

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 90nm Retail

Gigabyte K8NF-9 nForce4 'Vanilla'

2x512MB Samsung Original 400MHz

Gigabyte GeForce 6600GT PCI-e

WD 160GB w/8MB 7200RPM S.ATA

Black painted floppy drive

Antec SLK3700BQE

Microsoft Multimedia keyboard

Logitech MX510 mouse

10x for the feedback!

I would go with a 3500, 6800gt and a 3520A.

If I go with a 3500 and 6800GT, then I would have to cut down on the case, the mouse, RAM and mobo!

I really don't think it's a smart move as it would hurt the 'balance' in the spec... If I was willing to invest more $, I'd buy a better video card, and a faster processor.

Also, I have no need for a DVD burner ATM.

Why is that?

It's the cheapest 6600GT one can get where I live... also, according to hardware reviews the 6600GT is by no means a bad performer! It is often able to reach 6800 levels and is currently the most powerful card there is under 200USD.

That's an awesome value-minded rig.

Have fun with OCing

if you are overclocking, i wouldn't get a higher rated athlon, in fact, i would get a 2800+ or 3000+ 90mm. other than that, i've never heard of a 'floppy drive' so i can't comment on it. is it like a hard drive or flash drive?

I think there may have been sarcasm on the point of having a floppy drive......you don't really need those things nowadays unless you hit problems and have to go back to good old DOS to sort it out!!

This is almost exactly what I'm considering as an upgrade for my rig, but I'll probably go with a different video card.

If I don't intend to do any overclocking, will the GA-K8NF-9 (non-Ultra) perform equally as well as the GA-K8NXP-9 (Ultra)? Meaning, does that extra 200MHz of Hyper Transport make any difference in performance if no overclocking is done?

How much was the motherboard? Over 200 dollars? Lot of money to shell out while people are spending less for more performance.

I paid 169USD for the K8NF-9 where I live.

Not bad for a NF4. Looks good to me then. Just remember the non-ultra's don't support SATA2 with native command queing.

Yeah, I don't mind that. NCQ is only good for certain applications under specific environments. SATA2 is an overkill when HDDs are far from even maxing out SATA (150MB/s).
EDIT: also, buying anything but a PCI-e board means forcing me to buy the AGP version of the 6600GT which not only cost more (enough to close the gap between the K8NF-9 and K8NS-939 and leave some change), but also has its memory clocked 10% slower thus affecting 3D performance - more or less by the same measure.

NO.

I think everything looks good, except for your graphics card. If price is an issue, you might consider waiting a couple weeks for the X800XL, which will be around $300 and will blow the 6600GT out of the water.
