A little background before I state my question. I just built a core i5 system on an asus P7P55D Deluxe with 4 Gigs of Gskill ripjaw ram running at DDR3 1600.

I'm using a CM hyper 212 plus HSF and have just begun to overclock. Since I am a beginner to overclocking I used the OC tuner utility inside the bios. The bios bumped up the cpu to 3715.29 MHZ.

To test stability I ran a prime 95 blend test for 1 hour during which the temps recorded are as followed

Core 0: L 39C, H 71C
core 1: L 34C, H 65C
core 2: L 38C, H 65C
core 3: L 34C, H 66C

Temps were taken using core temp 0.99.5 After running these tests for 1 hour no errors were reported. How do these temps look? Also, I ran the benchmarks in everest ultimate and have seen very good improvement overall. Is there an easy way to post benchmarks for others to critique? Thanks in advance!

Try going up further?

What voltages did it set for you? Run cpuz to find out.

Looks good.

Why not use the 20x or 21x multi though?

As for stress testing, I've ran it for about an hour and it was stable...haven't done 24 hours yet. The max temp I saw in that hour was 71C on one core but that wasn't consistent. That core mainly fluctuated during the run mainly staying around 68C.

The reason I didn't bump up anything else is because these settings were achieved using the OC tuner utility in the asus bios utility for an ASUS P7P55D Deluxe.

As for the overclock....3.7 was alot more then I expected and I'm perfectly happy with the results. I'm glad I stuck with ASUS for my second build.

Those temps seem about right. I was playing with LinX at 3.6 GHz on my Core i5 and temps were 71ish...I'm going to order a second fan for my 212P and see if that helps temps any.

Good oc for that vcore. About the right load temps for Prime95 blend, but you need to test longer. A second fan would help. It should lower temps about 3-5C. Try 10 runs of LinX, if stable go for 50.

I've got the same heatsink on the way, same CPU, same memory, and a similar motherboard (Asus p7p55 lx)...I'll let you know my results later this week.

try using the OC tuner utility as a baseline. How exactly does the utility work anyway? Does it just start with pre determined settings and then goes from there?

Ah, my motherboard is the cheap version. It doesn't have the auto OC tool, but most of the bios controls are the same.

To test stability for 24/7 use, run prime95 blend test for about 8 hours or more. I've had OC results that failed after 6-7 hours of testing.

Mine seems stable at 3.2 GHz, not really surprising given the memory can handle it. (160x20). At the moment I have Turbo mode disabled (Speedstep is on), I don't want it to accidentally have it overclock my PC to death.

Load temps are at 54 55 52 54, which seems pretty low to me 1.1v on the Vcore.

Instead of starting a new thread, I'll try my question here since the MB and CPU are about the same.

I have the P7P55D and a core I5. The HSF I bought ended up being too big and I had to return it. I'm still shopping for a good fan that will fit in my Lian Li PC60 plus case.

Question: I used the auto OC feature and it got the processor up into the mid 3gig area but in doing so it knocked the memory timings down. I wanted to OC the processor some but still keep my good timings.

Without going whole hog, what are some settings I can apply for now and still keep my memory timings? I've overclocked before . . . I have prime95 and the new coretemp but I'm still on the stock fan but I'm shopping around for a better one.

Any fan suggestions for one that's not too tall? I had a duo core and a Thermaltake Typhoon in here before and it fit with about 1/2 inch to spare. This beast,

which I returned, was definitely too big!

Thanks, guys!
