I just picked up Mario Kart from the Ebgames in Westwood. I am here to explain the bliss that is mario kart.
Everyone that loves mario kart of any form: GET THIS GAME
Everyone that loves kart racers: GET THIS GAME
Everyone that loves multiplayer games: GET THIS GAME
Everyone that loves games with that pure nintendo quality: GET THIS GAME
Actually, lets put it this way:
Anyone that remotely shares an interest in video games: GET THIS GAME
If you do not have a gamecube by now, there is no reason not to. With the recent price drop and the already spectacular line-up that Nintendo has established up until now, everyone should at least pickup a used gamecube. (which goes for what? a measely $69? probably comes with a used game as well) I just spent the last 5 hours playing this game nonstop with 2 of my friends. We have never had this much fun with a game before... So much has changed with this franchise that I honestly cannot believe the reviewers at IGN and gamespot gave this masterpiece a 7.9. I seriously think they were just playing this game to look for excuses and to bash it rather than to have any fun with it at all (hey, its their loss anyways). Sure, the game could have offered "more," but what game can you truly not say the same for? I also know that regardless of their reviews, people will buy this game and it will easily be a million seller. However, I just fear that so many people that trust IGN and gamespot will lose out on such a gaming experience because of the lackluster score. Nintendo is trying to make things right again, and they will need all the help they can get as they approach the next generation of consoles. At its heart, Mario Kart: DD is definitely a multiplayer game, and that is how people will be playing it as anyways. As more and more people start to get this game, I would like to hear your thoughts on the game as well.
