Hell I'm not in denial. To be quite honest, I notice the lag most often when trying to type out a message on these forums. It's annoying as hell.

I'd say that most Android users don't deny there's lag but rather they assert that it's usually not that bad.

It's rather amazing how hellbent _some_ vocal people are at painting us as fanatics.

Glad my Touch Pro 2 keeps chugging along. I still dont see much about Android or WP7 that is an improvement over Winmo 6.5. Of course, there's so much development going on for my phone I can run all 3 Os's on the same phone if I wanted too.

Is it really true that Android lags while your trying to type ?

I went from a TP2 to a Epic... saying there isn't much of an improvement is laughable.

I call shens on that one. WP7 has not been ported to the TP2 yet and probably never will be due to the hardware requirements. Even if someone was able to get it to run on the TP2 it would most likely be too slow and laggy to be practical.

Android's implementation on the TP2 is limited with quite a few features missing.

That said, yeah, I don't see any other devices offering a compelling reason to ditch my TP2 yet.

Maybe he's thinking about the HD2? The HD2 certainly can run all three and would provide a good experience because of the hefty hardware.

I have no idea if thats true, I don't notice anything when I'm typing.

I'm beginning to consider a WP7 phone for my next upgrade. If Sprint comes out with something compelling by May then I might jump on one. By compelling I mean a 4" or greater screen and no hardware keyboard.

Yes, I apologize for my mistake. I hadn't paid enough attention to the details and mistook the ability to run themes for running the actual OS.

But I wasn't really interested in running it, I like the computerishness of Winmo 6.5, I'm too old to like the concept of things like libraries in Windows 7, I assume WP7 has something similar ? I want to deal with actual files and real directories.

Maybe your TP2 gave you problems that mine doesn't give me. Aside from the camera, the hardware differences between an Epic and a TP2 aren't significant enough for me to want to pay more every month to have.

Same thing with Android. I like the way Winmo handles multiple gmail accounts for example. And most Google stuff works well on Winmo. But the things that are Winmo specific, like Office, how well does Android do that ?

Actually office works rather well with the majority of phones that include the software. But you seriously can't compare the functionality of wm6 vs android. There are so many things that are better. Even stuff as simple as barcode scanner, bein able to say out loud navigate to best buy. Not that i go to Best Buy.

What is with the email reference? I have 3 pop emails 2 gmail and an exchange email. I am not saying android is the end all be all... but you can not compare wm6 to any mobile os out there today. I am not even saying it may be worthwhile for you but to try and say you cant see any benefits seems just.... weird.

You know how often I need a barcode scanner ? Never. But there are barcode apps for Winmo.

Voice search/navigation works with Winmo via Bing or Sprint Nav if on sprint. Actually, it works with Google maps too. (forgot)

The email ref was that Winmo works well with Gmail, and other Google apps, not that Android doesn't.

What Android office software opens Word and Excel files ? Does it do it as well as Office Mobile, which comes with Winmo 6.5 ?

The implementation of Excel in WM7 is way better than WM 6.5 (I went from Xperia to Focus.) But initially you really feel like you're using a crippled phone. I think because with WM 6.5 you're so used to be able to do just about anything you can think of with your phone. Remote desktop to your Windows 7 PC? No problem with WM 6.5. Network file sharing? Done.

So going to a phone where you can't even see the file structure, offering no plug-n-play support is rough at first. I've found that over time you just get used to fiddling with your phone less. Like, have you ever seen a 3 legged dog? They seem just as happy.

QuickOffice does it for me, but honestly how much do I need with Office files. Really it's to read a PDF that someone sends out or a Doc or an Excel. I've done it all.

Granted I'll admit that WinMo will deal with Office FAR better than Android or iOS will. That's what you get with native support. Just like exchange support is excellent on Windows Mobile. Lulz at Android support. But for the basic stuff, Android will cover you.

I have to agree with a lot of the sentiment surrounding WP7. I had a chance to play with an LG Quantum next to my Evo 4G, and it made my Evo feel slow and outdated in comparison. That's despite having identical hardware specs (1 GHz Snapdragon, 512 MB RAM, 800x480 display). It may not be as "open" and flexible as android, but WP7 just feels so damn fast and fun to use. They really took a page from Apple's book and made UI THE highest priority with their OS.

I am seriously considering jumping ship for either WP7 or webOS sometime this year. There are so many kick ass phones running Android, but the software itself just doesn't come close to the competition. It's sort of like getting a quad-core Sandy Bridge system and running Windows ME on it.
