Have then come out and said it does not? I thought it was all still rumors and speculation. I would actually be kind of surprised if the had one on the 8 and not use the same one for the 11.

I too am interested to see what the dell brings to the table.... The accessories for the surface really are very expensive and dell could significantly undercut them there.

I am going to get some kind of win8 tablet this year and am hoping the dell ends up being good because it seems like the better value package.

surface is still way overpriced, youre better off buying a cheaper dell and replacing it with an updated model 8 months from now

Like the Surface Pro, the Venue 11 supports stylus input. Unlike the Surface, the pen isn’t included, it’s an extra (no price yet). There’s no place to store the pen in the tablet. Dell claims that this is because they wanted to concentrate on making the stylus feel like a real pen and not compromise on the experience. The pen’s too thick to easily fit inside the case even if there were a slot for a stylus.

The pen does feel good in the hand. The technology is from Synaptics, not Wacom, and the pen itself requires a battery. The tip glides well across the display and, in the short time I had to test it, the screen felt very responsive.

it APPEARS as though the Venue lowest priced model is powered by Bay Trail, whereas the Pro is powered by Haswell. (they aren't one and the same right?)

Also, not sure how I feel about a battery powered stylus. It might not be a big deal as using the pen would probably be rare, but it would be a constant source of frustration for it to always be dead when I wanted to use it.

clearly the option is budget vs premium. The classic "Dell" conundrum.

Bay trail is more of a mobile SoC. Apple's A7 is competitive to it in performance if that gives you an idea. One of the reasons why the A7 was praised was because Apple beat Intel to market by a month.

Whereas haswell is desktop/laptop class CPU. Haswell is quite a bit more powerful.

Sounds like the Surface Pro is still the tablet to get for power users.

I wandered over to the Surface display at BB the other day and a guy who has the Pro 2 picked one up and gave me the grand tour. Very impressive (he knew more about it than the salesperson), but I can't see spending that kind of $$ on a mobile device, unless I could get hard use out of it every day.

It's the same price as any high(er) end *book device. Hell, a 64gb iPad is $699. An extra $200 for the Pro2 seems like a goddamn BARGAIN.

And the iPad is also overpriced. I would definitely pick the Pro 2 over Apple's device, but MS just has to lower the price to get those of us with little or no disposable income to bite. I know cost can reflect quality (and often does), but $900? Sorry, no.

Well, it runs windows so you have to ask yourself WHY you couldn't get good use out of it. Do you have the same doubts in a laptop?

How do you make this "overpriced" comment, when compared to devices that actually exist out in the wild and their actual prices?

There is a clear difference between the $500 venue pro and the $900 surface pro 2.

That's if you assume 64gb ipad at $699 is a bargain. Which it is not. Nook HD+ 9" for $110 is a bargain. Nexus 7 (2013) for $230 is a bargain. iPad 64gb like the Surface Pro 2 is overpriced.

You cannot compare a consumption only device like the Nexus 7 or Nook with the Surface Pro.

The Surface Pro's competition is the Macbook Air.

and the Dell Venue. Which (for me) brings Surface Pro 2 pricing right where it should be. I don't expect everything for nothing.

The pro 2's competition is more towards the MBA. Looking at that, the price ain't bad.

I really wish someone would do a comparison of these stylus enabled tablets just solely on that. Take into account things like palm rejection. Have some digital artists play with it and see what really works.

I know the Surface Pro has taken off with quite a few digital artists (webcomics for instance), but it'd be nice to see how others compare, but its like its just an afterthought (most reviews its like "well I suck at using a stylus, but it works").

The Venue Pro version most likely will be the same price point as Surface Pro -- at most 100$ less.

Wow what an incredible device. I've been looking for something to replace my iPad as I find it to be bit restrictive in terms of what I like to do (especially in regards to multitasking).

I was intitially skeptical due to the clamor about its size and weight, but in person it's extremely manageable. I would not recommend for one hand usage, but for lap or sitting down scenarios it's perfect. The integrated kickstand is in a word, awesome. The second position perfectly nails the seated position and I even tried it laying down on the floor and it worked well.

The type cover is....ok. It's no replacement for a full blown keyboard, but it's miles better than using the onscreen one. Also the touchpad is very responsive and usable.

Now onto the good stuff. The screen is incredible. Colors looked great, super bright and plenty of contrast. Truly gorgeous to look at. The integrated pen is an awesome addition too even though I won't use it much. Performance wise, this thing simply flies. With SSD and 8GB of RAM I was having trouble overloading it no matter what I did. I could not get a good gauge for heat/noise, but I could not detect much in playing around with it for an hour.

I was sold. Preordered one on the spot and traded in my 16GB iPad 3 for $250 in store credit.
You should have bought a Macbook Air if productivity in an ultra portable computer was what you were looking for.
