Hi,
.
Looking for advice on what camera to exchange the SD1200IS to.
Thanks.
I had the same issues when I upgraded my old 5MP Sony without OIS to a 8MP Sony with OIS. I believe the issue is due to more sensors. The size is not changing but when you add sensors they get squeezed closer together and get less light to do there job. Think of a room and instead of 30 people you now have 50 people and how it is more cramped.
I strongly recommend the Sony Exmor R sensor cameras, which include the WX1 and TX1. They are also releasing the TX7 and HX5. This sensor puts all the electrical wiring behind the sensors allowing more light to be captured and with Sony's Twilight Hand Held mode the non flash shots in low light situations is amazing! I have this sensor in my Camcorder and when I could not get a good shot of an owl my camcorder recorded it without any problems.
This technology, wiring behind the sensors, is game changing and every camera maker needs to use Sony's sensor or duplicate their effort.
