my eyes failed me mtonight. cop was on the rural feeder which was wayyy off the side of the freeway, and he was moving (if he was stopped [parking lights on], wouldve been easily spotted).

anywho, got stopped for 21 over. NOT construction zone, NOT school zone, NOT residential area. just 81 in 60 at night on empty flat ass texas interstate.

cost? 296$. thats some fcking baloney. a few months back i got cited in the same (Dallas County) jurisdiction for 18mph over... cost was 180$. . guess the County just ran out of money. usually the pricing structure in texas is roughly 10$ /mph... with a big step increase at 25mph over... some baloney. oh well

Why are you bitching again? You were going 21 mph over the speed limit, if u get caught just accept the fine. I got caught doing 60 in a 35...

I was going 80 and a state trooper was riding my ass so I went 85 and he was still riding my ass so I just switched lanes and let him pass. I almost ****** my pants when I realized a cop was behind me tailgating me.

& one time I was going 80 and the cop pulled up right next to me and looked at me. I just looked straight ahead and of course I reduced my speed to 55. L u c k y!

I did get a ticket going 80 in a 65. I was going more like 90 but the cop was young and he was really cool about it. He reduced it for me since I knew I was speeding. I was just laughing about it with my friend. It was like 4A.M and we were driving home from a longgg trip. The cop asked me if I was high or drunk and I said no (I wasnt).

Well I don't know about every state, but here in TN, 20+ is considered 'wreckless driving'.
20 or more is a different bracket and can constitute taking you to jail and impounding your race car.

Here, he would've been arrested and he would've lost his license.

Once I was in leading a group of cars doing ~90 on the interstate in northern WI, and turns out the car 2 cars back was an unmarked squad, and he pulled over the guy behind me. Needless to say, that was the last time I did more than 10 over.

That's completely idiotic thinking. You fail to take into account the road circumstances when you make that generalization. 21 over on a flat Texas highway with no traffic is totally different than speeding in, say a school zone. The highways were designed for traffic around 75-80 anyway, so I doubt the OP was traveling at an unreasonable speed for the road. The laws in place are defiantly not used to ensure safety, but rather are used a money generating tool. If they really were meant to ensure safety, then the limits would be set to sane levels that the average driver would drive and would only be used to stop the really insane drivers that pose a real threat to traffic, not the OP.

To the OP, get a lawyer and fight the ticket. $300 is about the break even point with hiring a lawyer vs pleading guilty, not including insurance increases.

I think you should change that to 'reckless' driving. Driving too fast can lead to wrecks.

Was up on I-95 last week going home at 1:00AM when a panel truck started tailing
me and an SUV was bobbing in and out in front of me so I got PO and moved to far
left lane dropped into 3rd ran it up to 115mph @5000 rpm till the their headlights
were just a memory. Then out of my side mirror I saw a set of headlights approaching
FAST! I skipped into middle lane, had slowed to 90 at this point and a FHP crown Vic
passed me at about 125! must have been an important matter as he didn't light me up.
Now since I've had the **** scared out of me I try not to get angry when driving...

Yeah, but he could have done that going 21 mph slower too.

Interstates are design for much higher speeds than 60 mph. In TN our speed limit is 70, and it went down from 75 a few years ago. Our interstates are curvy with hills, certainly not a striaght flat road like in TX.

Wow... I never thought Texans could actually get speeding tickets :Q

They always drive over the speed limit... 80 mph in a 60 mph zone, that's normal for them... Garbage trucks go 90 .

That cop must've had a stick up his ass. Here in Windsor, ON (Canada) we go 70-80 in 50 zones all the time, cops never pull anyone over for things other than wild driving (weaving, racing, running lights, etc.). 130-140 on the 100 expressway.

Thats not too bad, though the fine seems pretty steep. When I was in Washington a few months ago my friend was going 92 in a 60 zone. We told the cop we were trying to go back to the future and he laughed... but still gave a $276 ticket.

About 3 years ago I got fined $880 + 30 day license suspension for going 101+ on I5 on the way back from LA to San Jose. Whatever you do, do NOT get caught going over 100mph near Coalinga, CA. That judge is a big time a-hole.
