Was the 2nd to last registration so everything was full already...kinda got the shaft

Rhetoric 105 (Composition 1 Requirement)...*faap faap*
Spanish 122 (only took 3 yrs of spanish in HS....have to take 3 more semesters)
Stats 100
US History (Civil War era)

Earliest class is at 9...M,W,F Im done at 11...T,Thur Im done at noon

Not too bad overall...not exactly what I wanted but I guess I cant complain. I suppose this is just be geting my BS classes out of the way. I dont think they should be that big of a problem.

Now make sure you know where the local liquor stores are, which sorority has the most sluts, and where the free clinic is and you are all set for a great first year of college.

i attended about 2 hours of classes a week (pretty good marks too ), half way through my fourth year of law/econs...the load usually seems to lighten hours-wise after the first year, but i'm expecting it to pile up next year (my last).

Droz: Okay, want some advice?
Tom: Well, yeah...
Droz: Here's all you need to know. Classes: nothing before eleven. Beer: it's your best friend, you drink alot of it. Women: you're a freshman, so it's pretty much out of the question. Will you have a car?
Tom: No.
Droz: Someone on your hall will. Find them and make friends with them on the first day. Anything else?

Yep, my schedule was HORRIFIC my first semester thanks to seniority rule. It'll get better.

And is that only 12 hours? You'll be there quite some time at that rate.

I got about 7 from AP Comp Sci and Calculus. I still took 16 and 15 hours my first two semesters at Illinois. What are you studying? Good luck to you.

As an Engr major, even if our schedule doesn't suck (most of the time it does), we can spend a boatload of time doing work outside of class.

I got the shaft my freshman year, spring semester, Physics 2 for Eng MWF, either 8 am or 9am, Both profs Sucked so, i was screwed either way. and The 9 am class had rec at 8am on MW, So you couldn't really win.

The Spanish class gives you 5 credit hours probably (and it'll meet every day of the week too ). Still, thats an awfully light load, probably should take more next semester while your still going through all your BS classes. Which college/department are you in? Or rather, are you north or south of Green? ^_-

You'll hate that 9 am by the second week of classes. I did the same thing when I started college. Since in high school I was up and out the door by around 6:30 every morning I thought taking an 8 am in college would be a breeze. Turned out it was Calc. and wasn't a breeze. By the end of my college career taking a class before 10-11 was hard.

Well Im HOPING to get into their School of Business Junior Year (wasnt accepted right away). So as of now i have to put up with LAS bullsh!t....But I suppose if business doesnt work out...i can just stick with LAS and get an econ major. But I didnt want to give myself too much work the first semester. I have to get a 3.5 or better my first 2 years to even be able to APPLY for either Business or CS....i dont want to overload myslef and fvck that up right from the start.

I'm a senior at U of I... I actually only have one semester left but I'm not coming back to school until the spring. I'm in Mechanical Engineering and Math, though, so I can't really relate to you and your weak-ass schedule. That said, I am registered in LAS right now so I don't have too much room to make fun.

Illinois is so much fun I can't even describe it. So many things to do, places to party, ways to get in trouble... oh man. Just like anyone else would offer, if you have any questions about anything, I'm more than happy to help out. Illinois - Fvck yeah!

Have fun at U of I. I was there from 95-97. I had to leave because I had too much fun and didnt concentrate on school like I should have. Its a great school and I missed out on alot of things there so stay in school foo! Actually I ended up going to U of I in Springfield for my last 2 years, and am doing pretty well so I guess it all worked out in the end.

Go Illini!

I love UIUC for primarily one reason right now... see sig
As fun as it is, I can't wait to get the hell out of Illinois for grad school.

But back to the OP. Meh, a 3.5 is pretty easy to maintain, IMO. Get classes out of the way, because there will be things you will decide you want to do part way thorough that will require more time. If you do get into engineering, I /highly/ suggest you look into doing a study abroad, at least 1 semester, preferably 1 year. But no matter where you go, there's so much the school offers for you to do, you really dont have enough time to do it all.

what's your major? That looks like a pretty light schedule. . . .

My freshman year was:
semester 1:
Physics 111 - honors physics mechanics (4hr)
comp 210 - intro to program design (4hr)
chinese 201 - second year chinese (4hr)
math 211 - ordinary differential equations
anth 203 - intro to physical anthropology (damn distribution requirements)

semester 2:
Physics 112 - honors E&M
Mech 211 - intro to mechanical design
comp 212 - intermediate programming
chinese 202 - second year chinese
math 212 - Multivariable calc

both were 18 hour semesters. I could have taken some more classes and kept a life.

(this is at Rice University)

I did registration wayyy back.

ENGL30 (which is actually honors freshman composition, I'll assume it's just numbered different)
IST110
IST111S (Seminar that goes with 110)
PSY002
CMPSC101

IST110 appears to be MS Access. IST111S is an intro to the way the IST program works, what resources are available, and then some general stuff. PSY002 is apparently the same psych course I took last semester in HS, CMPSC101 is intro to algorithmic processes. I've already been through all this, but in the wrong language. I just need to pick up C++, or else I wouldn't have to take this course. ENG030 is "Writing practice for specially qualified and screened students" and is being taken in lieu of ENGL015, which is intro to writing term papers with correct grammar and punctuation.

Interestingly, that's nowhere near as heavy a course load as I wanted. As a commuter school, they try to cram all the classes they possibly can into the same space, so that we can go the hell home. I wanted to throw a P.E. course on there, and kill off at least 4 humanities credits.

I'm done before 11AM except Tuesday and Thursday, when I have Comp Sci at 1:30.
