I want to expand this thread into a question: How many of ya'll love the idea and cost of 24" LCDs (particularly the Dell) but are just afraid to go for it because to handle new games well it will almost certainly require you to keep buying high-end $400+ video cards at least yearly?

I'm concerned about running a 20" at 1680x1050 as opposed to a 19" at 1280x1024. 1920x1200 just gives me a good reason to not even consider buying a larger monitor which I probably don't have the room/money for anyway.

Um........yeah...........I've doubted several monitors I've bought in the past. This is what happens when you get curious as to what other products are like......

Keep what you have. The image quality the NEC gives is better than the 24" Dell. I'd rather have it's quality and overall higher frame rates than more surface area, but that's just me.

I wish I could take every monitor that I see in stores for a test drive. Must be nice having that option.

The only one that I've gotten from a local store is the VX2025WM. The 2007WFP and the 20WMGX2 were from the net.

How would you rate the 3? If you've already posted this before, could you give a link? I'd like to hear from someone who has used the VX2025WM and 2007WFP side by side as these are two monitors that I have my eye on. What's the quality like with text? Thanks in advance!

I just got a 24" Dell LCD, set it up about 2 hrs ago!!!!! I've done a little surfing and I played some World of Warcraft. I had a 20" LCD Viewsonic, which was nearly 2 years old.
Ok, the size of this is... wow it is so huge, it feels huge compared to my 20" LCD. I love it. Next it is so nice and bright, again wow, wow, wow. My GFs screen is right behind me it is a 20" WS Dell, and looks so small
I love this thing I don't see any dead pixels and the image is sharp, whites are very white, darks are much better then my old screen and it is uniform.
Another thing, you need some power to run it in games, I noticed the performance hit just going from 1600x1200 --> 1920x1200 in World of Warcraft. Before I was running between 40FPS and 60FPS, now it dips down to 30FPS to 60FPS. So yes even I a noticed that my min FPS dropped.
I am running a X1800XT, Athlon X2 @ 2500Mhz.
Work is going to suck tomorrow with my 19" and 17" LCDs, dual display...

If anything, I wish it offered an even higher resolution.
The nice thing with such a large monitor is that you have a lot of options to run lower resolutions and end up with about the same size of screen as the smaller monitors. With 1600x1200 or 1680x1050 1:1 you'll get about 20" of screen.
The scaling on a good monitor isn't that bad either so you could do other 16:10 resolutions and let it fill the screen and it won't look that bad.
And of course you could run half resolution and get away with an older card or a lower end card. 960x600 on a 7800GT would let you turn all the eye candy way up and it would still play buttery smooth in most games.
I actually kinda like the idea of running say half resolution, as games will play great and look quite nice, and they actually get a bit of replay value as when you upgrade to a newer faster card in the future, you can turn the resolution up (and by then there should be some nice mods to add to the visuals if its a game thats known for nice graphics) and see it in high-res glory as well.

I guarantee in 6 months, that 24" is gonna look awfully small and you're gonna want a 30"
