Except, the Watchmen was easily better than any comic book movie out there. It is certainly better than EVERY Spider-man, Hulk, Thor, Blade, Captain America, and Batman movies.

People in the movie business beg to differ. Spider-man 3 made $150 million it's opening weekend. Nearly 3x what The Amazing Spider-man made.

Opening weekend is a good measure of how people liked the PREVIOUS movie. Most people consider Spider man 2 to be the best of that series, so it makes sense that they'd have a big opening for the next one. Since spider man 3 sucked, the next one did worse.

MovieBob over at Escapist pretty much summed up my thoughts on the movie.

I didn't know it before but Sony is obligated to make a Spiderman movie at least every 10 years in order to keep their rights to it. The two movies in this series are about as uninspired as you can get.

I didn't think it was one every 10 years but, yeah, they basically can't sit on the rights and have them go to waste. And, frankly, so much money gets made off of the merchandising for Spider-Man that there's no way Sony will let this license go.

I've kind of heard there's an expiration on the licensing deal, and I'm sure there is, but can't find any concrete details on it. Some people expect it to revert back to Marvel after the fourth Amazing Spiderman movie, but I can't find any data to back that up.

Giving it back to Marvel would be a wonderful idea though.

I liked it but it was missing something. Great acting between the two lovebirds (expected of course) and I liked how it was more comic book-ey (like the twips when he shot his webs). I was totally expecting the ending and style points for the clock tower. But all in all, it seemed to be missing something. Electro wasn't very satisfying as a villain, and that introduced a lot of cheesy crap

Well yeah, but how long has it been since we've seen a monster movie? Cloverfield is the last I remember and that's over 6 years old now. You don't have to watch it, but every once in a while something like this is a good distraction. It's the type of big, loud, explosion filled movie that I'll only watch in the theater, and only that once... but I know exactly what I'm getting so I usually leave feeling entertained. I've pissed away 2 hours and $7 doing less entertaining things.

I am going to see Godzilla, mostly because it just looks like an updated version of the older movie (which I liked). Plus, Mr. White is in it. And I can only imagine how upset he is going to be when Godzilla fucks up his lab.
