Wrong.

lol "wrong"

poor guy is in denial that he got ripped and cant come up with anything other than "wrong"...
you spent $14 on generic goop that should come free with the overpriced heatsink! oh well, i've seen worse...

Yeah right, i am in denial of buying a great system.

Your post is just stupid.

Plus, its not an outrageously priced alienware type rig with the green and blue cases with side windows.

Im not an expert, but i think i did ok. Actually to tell you all the truth, i pretty much took the advice of this website.

all we are saying is you could have paid about $500 less and had the same system

I'm not sure about $500, but it does seem to be a bit expensive.

$500 easy. its almost $200 on the RAM alone

plus he spent about $170 on a case and PSU?

he could have easily knocked off another $50 with a 6800GT

a $60 cd burner-dvd player? he could have gotten a DVD burner for that price

$275 for a CPU??? he could have gotten a 3200 for $100 less and would have never noticed a difference, and he could have easily overclocked it to 3500 speeds.

and i dont even want to pick through the rest

Yeah, your right, and i could have bought Craft MACORONI WITH CHEESE for dinner last night, but opted for STEAK AND lOBSTER.

As long as you didn't pay $2500.00 for it you would be right.

We don't care how much you overpaid for your system, it was just your "cheap memory won't run quality games" comment. When you spew something out that stupid, you will catch flak.

I think that the fact that people pointed out that you overpaid really perturbs you... so you lash out with inane statements such as the one above.. anyways KRAFT Mac and Cheese rocks

Let me ask you this question, why should i be undermined for building a better system because they feel their overclocked high-latency ram rig (754) is just as good?

Benchmarks....Lol

Don't sweat it. Remember that Anandtech is stocked with teenage BOYS. Those types tend to be a bit insecure about themselves and watching someone happily spend $1800 on a system probably gives them jealous fits.

Have fun in a year or two when the computer is worth about $200 Lousy computer hardware prices!

Yep. I spent $100 on my PSU. $150 on my case... I'm not hurting for money, and an extra few hundred is a days pay to me. Big deal.

I understand why people are attacking him though. He is trying to defend a RAM choice, that is costing money, with little to no performance increase. Which is a bit silly. He should have just said: "That's what I want" Not, that's what I need for performance.

But really, when you look at the big picture. If he makes good money like some of us here, $300 is nothing.

I wouldn't think twice about dropping a couple hundred on a night out with my girl.

Why then, would I think twice about a dropping couple hundred on something that will last more then one night?

The bottom line is that a lot of ATers don't have that kind of money, and a couple hundred is a small fortune to them. It's just a different perspective.

its the my dad can beat your dad thing..

I bought my kids a dell, gonna pay someone to build me a fx-55 rig and make another system for oc'ing and just general what the hell stuff..

don't worry that it may cost allot, thats your concern.

but to say that it cant be done cheaper is incorrect.

heck, i can see buying low latency mem if you want to... i may just do that for my "home" project... but who knows.... when the time comes, i'll decide.

nothing wrong with spending a couple k's on what you want... do you need a plasma tv? no, but if you got it.. nice.

Some people also go buy a car at the price they have on the windshield. Some people do research, price it in a Bluebook, shop around a little, and then use what they just saved for savings or buy even more nice stuff.

Why pay more when you get nothing in return?

Two neighbors buy a identical car with the same options. They pull into their individual driveways. One bought a blue one for $20,000. The other bought a red one for $24,000. Upon learning the he paid $4,000 more for the same car, tells his neighbor "Your car sucks because it is blue! I paid a premium because mine is red and runs better".

That is what Slots is doing here, and it is pretty entertaining I must say.

I also want to add that Slots sytem is a nice system that should give him several years of good use. My poking fun in here was directed at him because of the side comments he made.

It has all been in good humor with no harsh feelings

Seriously though, next time come here so we can help you before you buy a system

Some people value their time more then spending hours researching stuff. Say Slots values his time at $100 per hour. He spends 4 hours researching products, and prices, to save $400. Has he come out ahead from his perspective?

To continue your car analogy, with a bit of a twist...

John buys a Mustang GT. Mark buys the 4 cylinder Mustang.

John says: my Mustang is way better then your POS four banger.

Mark says: You can only go the speed limit anyway, why waste the money.

John says: It's a luxury I can afford.

Mark says: You're just going to get a speeding ticket with that car.

And it goes on, and on...

It's all about perspective.
