just wait until you hit 70 and your guildies are pestering you to get S3 gear for heroic instance runs. Ive think ive spent more time running battlegrounds after i reached 70 than i the time it took for me to go from level 1 to lvl 70

Wow, people talk about WoW like they talk about cigarettes, WoW is not a good game, not a single MMORPG is, as for your age segments discussion Borealis7, I would NEVER let a kids under 10 years old play a game like WoW, they really have much better things to do (and much better games to play) at that age. Don't you guys get tired of needing to spend 200 hours just to get a level 70 character? Go play action RPGs instead, in Diablo II, for example, by the time you finish Nightmare (with minimal grinding, just beating the regular quests) you can have a level 60 character and you can play in parties with friends for the social aspect.

Why do people like RPGs with NO story, no INVOLVEMENT, PURE grinding and that requires endless amounts of time, I know I shouldn't be judging people's tastes in videogames but seriously this whole MMORPG thing is something that I just can't understand, the only explanation I can find is the addiction aspect.

its a different world your toon is in. does your life have a story line? thats the think about WoW your toon experiences the life in the world of WoW. from 1-70 most of my playing was alone. but since im 70 now i party up with guildies and do the quest in the outlands together.

oh and my 9 year old son plays he has a 27 NE rogue.

you have issues Nik

Haha. WoW was pretty cartoonish, which I liked. LOTRO was graphically awesome, but the combat system really sucked. Also, you couldn't solo much of the game at all. It very quickly scaled into small group quests, and then quickly scaled into full group quests with epic gear needed.

I got a soft spot for SWG.

That's WoW's biggest problem, there's very little to do at the level cap. That's the problem with Blizzard's philosophy of telling their players what to do and how to play the game, rather than having it be more openended. If you want a scripted entertainment experience, watch a movie...

The journey 1-70 is fantastic. Once there, WoW becomes a treadmill and I got sick of it.

I used to be an end game raider 2 years ago before I quit (the first time) and enjoyed that. Now, I pretty much only PvP (BGs and Arenas). I really enjoy playing different combos of arena teams. I think it's incredibly fun to have the gates open and then be forced to decide what the enemy team is, what their specs are, then who the target is, and attack all within a few seconds. Sure, after a bit you get pretty good/quick at it, but I still rather enjoy it.

Yeah, it was the PvP that kept me interested in the game long after I got tired of what little else it had to offer. I just wish you didn't have to suffer through PvE content to get fully geared for PvP. Gold for gems and enchants, rep for other various enchants, trade skill grinding for various BoP things, not to mention the BG grind you have to do every new arena season. It takes longer to gear a toon up for PvP than it does to get them to 70 in the first place.

Now I play my xbox if I want PvP. It's a lot less fun or involving, but at least it doesn't feel like a second job.

That's why I think you should be able to level viably via PVP. Of course, this excludes doing PVP dailies as that would be a horribly long method of leveling.

Personally, I like PVP to an extent, but I simply can't stand how gear matters more than actual skill. I won't say I'm the best player, but I do know quite a few things and losing to someone who only has to auto-attack me to win because of the vast gear difference... yeah, not so good. Although, it should be added that I typically only do PVP just to get gear for PVE, which is another problem in WoW.

I agree with the posters before me. Re-evaluate why you enjoy this game. It will consume large chunks of your time if you're not careful. Read on only if you want to hear my experience... this is gonna sound like a rehab session.. =P

I played because the rest of my local friends decided to play. we formed a guild and we started leveling together. Every one of my friends had a different work schedule so some could play more than others. before we knew it we were sometimes 10~ levels apart. we'd try to catch up but you know how slow running thru the world is without an epic mount. before you knew it, people were getting left behind cuz they were too low level and no one wanted to play alone. 1 by 1 people slowly stopped playing and canceled. I was one of the few that made it to 70 but i took my time. I enjoyed PVPing in the BattleGrounds thru each level segment. It gave me great satisfaction to destroy higher leveled characters with the limited skills at that level segment. That was mainly the reason it took me so long to get to 70 which the rest of my friends ground their way up.

After hitting 70 it was like reaching some plateau. i wasnt sure what to do next. that's when the long raids started. they took up at least 4 hours a night. Sometimes we wouldnt even finish the raid. Such are the pains of low geared characters. the few friends that remained with me in wow went thru 3 different guilds. the amount of drama was sickening at times.

Just before I stopped playing, only 2 of my local friends remained in wow. We started doing Arena for fun and that lasted for a while but then my account was hacked and most of my gold/items were sold/sent off into oblivion. A GM restored some of my gear but that was it. it really made me re-think the amount of time and effort i was pouring into the game. I quit wow about 7 months ago. I havent gone back since.

currently I only play TF2 and console games now. rockband has been very popular in my group of friends. what I found out was that I like to socialize in real life over Azeroth. sure you can get drunk in WOW but the buzz lasts longer in the real world.
