Restrepo (the doc) died early on in the deployment. A FOB was named after him. Docs attached to infantry platoon or squads have to do pretty much the same as the grunts do. At least ours did.

Just getting back from Afghan last Monday, I can relate to a lot of this movie. It is pretty intense at times. We delt with more IED's than firefights. They dont pick fights with Marines that much. They gave up the valley afterwards btw. One soldier said "we aren't ready for this", apparently he was right.

The film is pretty good. Worth a watch imo.

I watched it the other day, great film.

It lets you know what it's really like for these guys that are thrown into the thick of it. About halfway through it felt as though these could be the same guys that were in some outpost back in Vietnam, only with newer equipment.

I cheered, cried, cringed, and got angry (sometimes all at once) during the footage.

I watched the HBO premier. It's very good. There's also an HBO documentary on PTSD with James Gandolfini as well, which was decent.

I remember watching Baghdad ER some years ago on HBO as well. Also recommended.

Honestly, next to National Geographic, HBO makes the best documentaries. Frontline probably comes in third.
