Just when you thought desktop PCs couldn't get slower. Along comes AMD...

also blame Lenovo, there is no need for 10W CPUs for a regular small desktop like this...

but I suppose it's priced like a tablet and it performs like one...

Its a $200 machine with full Windows 8.1, for that price you can't expect much. Yes, its a giant hunk of crap and I feel sorry for anyone who buys it, but at least its not $300+.

Check this desktop PC out.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883266592

Beema dual-core, 1.35Ghz. Only 1MB shared L2 cache.

iGPU is 128 GCN shaders @ 350Mhz.

SLOW!

This sort of BS is what is killing the desktop market. Not tablets. In fact, a quad-core ARM tablet is more than likely faster for web browsing.

Ssd and a light weight Linux distributions should solve any speed issues. Also it has uvd so hd videos aren't a problem.

I mean tell that to the raspberry pi guys that have those whimpy arm 11 cores and loving them some kodi media server.

LOL! Tell that to my Foxconn NanoPC 1.0Ghz Brazos C-70 dual-cores. In fact, apparently, they run better on Win8.1 than Linux, for some reason.

Either way, they're far too slow, and so is the PC mentioned in this thread.

I mean.. AMD is probably just selling their chips to anyone willing to buy them. Is this PC slow as hell? Yes. But what is the average Joe probably using his PC for these days? Browsing the web, sending an email, paying his bills and maybe typing up some documents in Word.. really demanding stuff.. and we wonder why PC hardware is stagnating.

C70 pfft get on my level... Was running a c50 netbook until last year. Tried every Linux distributions-even androidx86- and I understand slow hardware(don't think I should be so proud). Let me tell you, getting a virtex 3 ssd was the best thing for that netbook. Ubuntu 14.04 with foss drivers and Vlc is pretty much all you need. Vlc is for streaming YouTube as well as an aground good player.

How is this thing going to work on youporn? Or what if he springs for the BangBros pass and wants 1080p?

Yes, you can. I recently got this below for $350 (CA tax included) It's a piss-poor buy, especially since performance is much cheaper on the desktop. Once you get down to those processors, you make huge compromises just to shave off some bucks, and they know many will eat it up because people don't know any better.

Processor: Intel Core 4th Generation i5-4210U (Dual Core, 2.7GHz turbo, 3M cache, 15W)
Windows 8 Pro
500 GB SSHD (5400 RPM)
4GB DDR3L 1600MHz
15.6 Inch FHD (1920x1080) Wide View Anti-Glare LED-backlit with Premium Panel Guarantee
8X DVD +/- RW Drive
Radeon 8850M 2GB GDDR5
Latitude 3540

That chip is going to be very slow.

But if there is a cpu from AMD that concerns me even more it would be the 25 watt TDP AM1 Sempron 2650 (1.45 Ghz dual core Kabini, 400 Mhz 128sp iGPU).

25 watt TDP, but then AMD specs was two cores @ 1.45 Ghz. This when all the reviews I have seen point to it using much less power under load than the two AM1 Athlon quad cores.

If anything a 25 watt dual core should be clocked higher than the Athlon quad cores.

well its a 10W Cpu.
I think they are trying to complete against a SOC based processor.

Its also to note a Intel J1800 is as well a 10W Cpu but its clock speed is 2.41ghz

I am thinking AMD is trying to build one of these guys that intel is currently messing with:

That isnt a Thumb drive folks... its a HDMI Baytrail TINY PC.

Not sure what you would expect for that price.

200$ for a PC WITH OS, mouse and keyboard.

I doubt that you can build anything yourself for that price, including the OS. Don't get me wrong...it's still a super shitty system...but the price is tight.

After OS, PSU, Case, Mouse, Keyboard....how are you going to pay for the rest? And what exactly are you going to buy? xd It even comes with an optical drive...for that price I am actually very impressed.

Edit: Wow, even slower than my E1-2500 Kabini.

ARM should be slower than Beema, assuming Beema has at least similar (if not higher) IPC than Bobcat.

You think that's slow? I still use my Atom N270 netbook for various things. Now that thing is slow. That C50 is a speed demon by comparison.

If manufacturers didn't buy this junk, maybe AMD would get the hint. As it stands, anybody who buys this is going to feel like an early Vista odopter running a Celeron.

Wut. You can buy a mouse for a few bucks shipped. Essentially the same (low prices) for the others. They give you the absolute lowest quality parts. The main issue, though, is a completely castrated APU and a garbage 500 GB desktop HD (not even SSHD!). I can't believe this actually says $60 off. lmao
