This is the first significant thing I've ever won in my life, so i'm pretty jazzed.

I need a 120/128 GB SSD for my laptop, a new monitor, and a decent PSU (preferably modular) for my i5 rig (below).

Can it be done for $500? (Of course it's tempting to hold out for shellshockers...)

I'm in Canada, so it's newegg.ca.

Thanks for any input.

Make sure the SSD will fit in the laptop. I know some aren't just plug and play.

Kingwin Lazer Platinum 550w is a really nice PSU. Read about it here Price

Seasonic X Gold series are really good PSUs. For your rig, I recommend the Seasonic X 660 Gold

While my recommendations are expensive ones, there are some "decent" lower priced ones.. I'm just not familiar withem

Vertex 3 SSD

I thought of this. When does it come out anyway? Is the pricing going to be higher than current gen drives? I was thinking that even if the Vertex 3 is too expensive, the new drives that are coming out soon might drive down prices of Sandforce 1200, Intel G2, and C300 drives. Although prices seem to have been stalled at around $200 for a 120GB drive for a while now.

They haven't actually sent me the gift card yet, but if I were buying today based on Newegg's current sales, I'd be seriously considering the following:

Antec TruePower New TP-650 650W $99 - $35 MIR (free shipping)
Hanns·G HH-241HPB Black 23.6" LCD Monitor $169.99 (free shipping)
Intel X25-M 120GB - $229.99 + $10 shipping

That's $510 plus tax (13%, yey socialist paradise), so I'd have to spend a bit of real money, but after I sold my current PSU and got the rebate, I'd probably break even. Thoughts?

Don't blow it all on a display. I have seen 120gb SSDs a few times for $170 if you wait for a good sale (both Intel and SF).

A good monitor is $250.

$150 is terrible TN.

$170 is decent C-PVA.

$250 is gaming e-IPS.

How does one shop for a certain type of panel? Looking at the information on the egg the panel type doesn't even seem to be listed.

EDIT: Or could someone recommend an E-IPS or C-PVA panel that might fit my budget? The SSD is absolutely top priority, but I might be able to do without a new power supply.

Dell UltraSharp line is entirely IPS, but that's not much help if you have to spend it at Newegg. I think there were some recent *VA releases from ASUS which is probably on Newegg. It's just that Dell's IPS panels are not only good, but also cheap.

Otherwise, $200 SSD, $100 PSU leaves $200 for a monitor.

There's this ASUS. That's the only IPS I've seen on Newegg Canada that's even close to my price range. Unfortunately it's sort of ugly.
