Something tells me this is just the tip of the iceberg with him.

Three justices, 2 very unfit, put on the court by an insurrectionist and traitor to get a GQP majority have already done incredible harm. This level of corruption by Thomas could finish off what remaining credibility the court still has. Roberts and Congress need to get off their asses and do something. Court already lacks demographic legitimacy, this can't go on.

What does Moscow Mitch think about Thomas' work as a political prostitute I wonder? He's been awfully quiet lately.

I guess the bottom line is.... we have incredibly scum-baged, bottom of the barrel justices who cheat, steal and rape yet are making life altering legal decisions that affect YOU and ME. If I'm going to have scum-bags rapist crooks and cheats making life altering legal decisions for ME, I want to chose the scum-bags myself.
But guess who chose the scum-bags justices for YOU? The scummiest scum-bag of them all.... Donald Trump. Thanks Republican Party. Way to go Mitch.

Thomas and his wifey just proves how rotten to the core they are, all of them. The justices, the congress, all of them. And if Thomas is pulling this crap then you know the others are pulling this crap except the others haven't been caught yet. This is why Roberts refuses to acknowledge the need for ethics rules. Imagine the corruption that would be exposed if ethics rules were ever imposed. Tip of the ice berg, tip of the ice berg.

Yea, especially when you are supposed to be an extra special lawyer.
Well, he is super-extra special, given he basically claims to have the ability to mind-read long dead people such that only he knows what they currently mean the constitution to be on any given day - which of course changes depending on the day and case. (With no need to actually look at what they really said or wrote)

I'm starting to think the Dems need to make this an issue, really run with it. Make the GQP wear this asshat proudly while investigations and a formal impeachment push all make it clear that SCOTUS repair cannot wait any longer. The Dems can get rid of the filibuster and save the SCOTUS if voters give them strong enough majorities, no more hostage taking from the likes of Sinema or Manchin.

While they theoretically could remove the filibuster now, it's not practically possible because of Manchin/Sinema. And there's no chance of real judicial reform until at least the next congress. Absolutely nothing will pass the house except DOA GQP circle jerk bills (which die in the senate) and resolutions naming federal buildings after KKK members.

The shuttered company was replced by a company with a similar name. This will be written off as a mere clerical error.

It could be, but he has a long pattern of "clerical errors;" such as "forgetting" to claim the $700k his wife "earned" while "doing work" for the Heritage Foundation for a couple of years.

Usually, when patterns of errors like this accumulate, they are no longer understood to be errors.

Yeah not talking about now really. This would ultimately be for next Congress yes but making Thomas the GQP's second big paragon of sleaze and corruption they have to defend should start now. Investigations take time. GQP obstruction eats up more time. The main point that needs to be communicated is that SCOTUS repair will only happen once the Dems have real majorities.

This country is broken on the constitutional level - the ways of the founding fathers have created rule by the minority, it did not stand the test of time, and there is no chance in hell of changing the constitution to fix those wrongs.
You seem to have forgotten that the Founding Fathers intentionally created rule by minority. The intent was for only rich old white dudes to have a say in our government. To the GOP, them being fundamentally conservatives and (at least claiming to be) originalists, this is government working as intended.

I was re-binging an old TV series call The Newsroom. Written by Aaron Sorkin which explains why I also love The West Wing. This is a clip commenting on the devastating effects of Citizens United, it's link to the Koch Brothers and the corruption of Clarence and Ginni Thomas. I bet Aaron Sorkin had no idea how corrupt Uncle Clarence turned out to be. Also take note how labor unions fit into this.

If you recall Scott Walker wanted to bust public labor unions under the guide of fixing the budget.

Senate Judiciary Committee Chair has invited Roberts to come talk about ethics. Repugs think asking Roberts about ethics/the appearance of impropriety over Uncle Thomas' "extra income," gifts, free vacations plus renovated pad for mom would constitute "a circus." Surprise surprise.

If Roberts had any shred of decency and love of country he would ask Thomas to resign. Here's your chance to side with the country and the rule of law Roberts. This schmuck has made a joke of your court, severely undermining what little credibility it had left. Anyone who can't handle a disclosure form can't be entrusted with the Constitution.

How christian is it, how American is it, to tell two guys on death row "Sorry, that evidence you found that could get you a new trial isn't allowed, tough shit" then later say "Sorry about all my pay off income, business deals and gifts I didn't disclose. I'll edit my records, no harm no foul."

That is fucking evil. Will John Roberts do something for the integrity of the court, for America? Or will it be another conservative fold where party comes before country? I hope he at least has the balls to show up, to say something since his previous support of Thomas is now completely meaningless.

Indeed. Clarence Thomas is evil personified.

He bashed Roberts and stare decisis, said others uphold it when 'they didn't want to think.' Quite the comment coming from court's smallest mind, probably why it stuck with me. Implied he didn't trust Roberts with that 'we trusted each other prior to 2005' comment.

C'mon Mr. Institutionalist, have a little dignity FFS. You really want to ride or die with the insurrectionists and this corrupt AF sociopath who won't recuse in order to protect the traitor he married?

Why do you question who he wants to ride with? I mean can people get a hint? This guy is deplorable and irredeemable and is the fucking enemy and he's fucking evil. I mean that's all there is to it. It's very black and white no pun intended

Because Roberts isn't the freedom caucus type, more a traditional repug. I think the question of him wanting throw in with the likes of Team Treason, to defend that level of corruption, is valid seeing as many of his kind refuse to.

I haven't seen anything about Roberts that would make me classify him as evil as Thomas, but I don't have much faith in him if it makes you feel any better. Maybe that opinion will change depending on what he does here soon. It'd be easier if it's revealed he is rolling in payoff money and "accommodations" a la Uncle Thomas, but I really don't think anyone else could be that stupid. He may have an activist agenda and love being obtuse about the need for an ethics code, but he's not stupid. He did his confirmation hearing off the cuff, no notes IIRC. Hence why I kind of expect him to take advantage of this invitation. Or maybe he's wholly committed to the Team Treason agenda and I'm completely wrong. We'll see.

Well there's the folks who side with the idea that because he's a thoroughly corrupted conservative he should get a pass on these incidences because hey, he's part of "The Team" and better yet, he's driving the libs nuts over his blatant misuse of his position so what's the problem again? And there are millions of them who believe anything and anyone who pisses off the libs is alright with them never mind there's a whole lot of malfeasance, crime, violations of rules, ethics and morals going on at the time. Those guiding principles no longer matter to them. If the GOP was a sports team they'd be permanently banned from participating.

The conservatives have abandoned any semblance of their former ideological beliefs (as shallow and fake as they were) and now have nothing more to guide them other than to mount an assault on The Constitution and the BOR because those principles get in their way of "saving the nation from being destroyed by the Democrats."

The McConnell Principle of Total Obstruction is the only rule they have to work with now. That's it, that's all. It's why the working class Republicans will object to any and all federal programs and policies authored by the Democrats that will directly benefit them, their families and their loved ones. FEMA assistance gets a pass because you know, the conservatives are owed that just like Social Security and Medicare. Yeah, they're OWED that but not the other stuff that's just like that because "it's socialism". LOL

my bad. I thought you were talking about Thomas.

but speaking about Roberts, if he doesn't start to show some character, at that point he will just be an enabler of evil
