No. See my previous post. He was under the influence of more than just alcohol.
Indeed. Case dismissed, you are free to go, sir.
While I agree that he's a little tit, the crap he's pulled pales into insignificance compared to any well know 70's rock star. When did we get so prissy about musicians behaviour?
It does have to be said that his talent pales into insignificance compared to any well known 70's rock star as well but that's a different issue.
no 24 hour news cycle in the 70s and certainly no internet media.
That is really all that matters.
I suppose. I'm just surprised that people here that can remember the 70s/80s are offended by him driving too fast/throwing eggs at someones house rather than him being a no talent little oik.
We are offended by his existance, not his actions.
Ah! Fair enough.
Can I borrow a spare torch or pitchfork?

Well, if you threw a TV out the window of your hotel room in the 70s it might make the local papers or news but probably wouldn't get picked up on the national level for days if at all. Now if you piss in a janitors bucket it goes viral around the world within minutes.
we are working on integrating strap on dildos onto remote control helicopters. Give us a bit.
We've gotten pissy about any misbehavior compared to the 70s. e.g. DUI was commonly a ticket, not a crime against the state costing thousands of dollars and requiring an attorney. Making homemade cherry bombs or fireworks was at most a misdemeanor, not a felony terrorism "destructive device" charge. et. al. x 1000While I agree that he's a little tit, the crap he's pulled pales into insignificance compared to any well know 70's rock star. Doesn't mean he can get high on lean / sizzurp /pot and drive around.
Up until Nancy Reagan and MADD many states did not have open container laws and you could literally drink while driving with little consequence.
And even as far as we have come in punishing drinking and driving, you can still kill some while DUI and not serve jail time.

It's not solely that he is a "musician" really. I think there are a few things working against him:
Most people old enough to have an intelligent conversation on the internet are not going to like his product.
If you don't like his product, you naturally do not feel he deserves to be rich and famous.
It is fairly common for people to be annoyed by someone who is more successful than they are, especially if said person is younger. That annoyance can rapidly turn to dislike if the successful person is perceived as not deserving the success/fame/wealth/etc.
This can be seen by people's attitude towards someone in their company who was "given" a position because of their last name/relationship with the boss. Or an injured athlete who is still collecting millions on the bench, etc.
That dislike can easily turn to "hate" when that person not only doesn't deserve what they have, but they do not "appreciate" what they have in the eyes of the hater. That perception is what causes such schadenfreude as their downfall is witnessed. (Arrests, squandering a fortune in a short period, overdose, etc.) The onlooker most likely feels like they would have made much better choices with the money and fame.
To get to the level of hate that the Beibz has, you need one more ingredient: over-exposure. Others who have achieved this triple-crown of crowd-hate include Paris Hilton and the Kardashians.
He could save a pack of baby seals and puppies from a burning building, and 90% of the comments on the article would be negative. The other 10% would be someone telling everyone that their aunt made $5405 in one week at this new home business opportunity.
Does he deserve it? Who knows, he does seem like a major douche.
Can a mod please change the spelling in the title? OP clearly misspelled "twubble" and it's really grating my nerves.
It was anti-anxiety meds. No one said he was high. Jeeze! He failed the sobriety test because he is 19 and buzzed and they are designed to fail anyone.
Watching Mad Men and the drunk driving scene tripped me out. Don flipped his car and the cop put took him in to sleep it off and let him go.

I think it's due to the Internet giving anyone in the world a voice. If there was an Internet in the 70s, just like today's Internet, I think you'd find people would be just as pissy. There just wasn't an outlet back then like there is now. We've gotten pissy about any misbehavior compared to the 70s. e.g. DUI was commonly a ticket, not a crime against the state costing thousands of dollars and requiring an attorney. The DUI carries a max six month sentence so he probably won't even be on probation. He will pay the $1000, do community service and be forced to take alcohol classes. The resisting arrest will be dropped for sure. The drag racing just carries a fine.
Hopefully he gets at least 90 days jail time.
