Ignorance can provoke anger, because it's often a marker of privilege, I guess. Often when someone is ignorant in certain ways it comes over as a sign that they've had a privileged life and are ignorant of that fact. That in itself can be extremely aggravating to those who haven't had the luxury of being able to not know things and get away with it.
As there are many different forms of privilege almost anyone can fall into that hole, one way or another. It's the price of living in an imperfect world, I suppose.
Either educate yourself with a map or accept you may walk into a minefield at some point.

But you aren't going to get a show cancelled over just any sort of plain old ignorance, even if that ignorance is born of privilege. For example, had she said, "I don't understand why so many people take out these payday loans. Can't they just wait a few days for their paychecks?" That would be the ignorance of someone who has never been poor. But would her show be cancelled over it?
This ignorance was a literal show stopper because it had to do with race. That is the political climate we are in right now, and people on the left are pretending it isn't happening.

I can see why you are so anti-Trump, because you believe incredible exaggerations of reality. To say Trump was calling white supremacists "very fine people" at this point in time is just dishonest. He wasn't referring to them and you know it. He doesn't support policies that oppress minorities, if anything his policies have helped minority communities. He doesn't repeat white supremacist ideals. That's just way out there. That is some strong koolaid they serve up on your side of the fence. Damn man.

SlowSpyder's comment is absurd - conservatives are infinitely more forgiving of racism and misogyny among their number than are Democrats. But I still think wearing such a costume at the very least suggests an alarming lack of awareness and a degree of insularity that doesn't exactly enhance one's opinion of Trudeau.
