Just received mine today. I was charged the correct amount. After looking at both this and Fuji MX-2900, I am keeping this one! I like it and at this price, you can't go wrong, IMO.

yay, got mine yesterday, charged the correct amount. it was shipped great with FOAM-INJECTED packaging- retail shrinkwrapped box. Pretty sweet camera, although i'll miss my trusty Olympus D-360L. usb... drool...

Question: Does anyone notice that when you use the LCD screen as the viewfinder that there is a lot of noise and interference on the screen? also, the quality isn't that great (reddish tint). But, after you take a picture and then go back to look at it, it looks OK. This is in comparison to my Olympus which shows crisp bright images in viewfinder mode as well as playback mode.

Thanks!

Yeah I totally agree guys! I got it today, they shipped it really well. I was playing with it and man it's a really nice camera. Everyone is saying it's not that great. Sure, compared to the other cameras in that price range ($600-800). But we got it for just about 1/2 of that! That makes this an amazing camera! I cannot get the USB port thing to work though. It crashes my computer royally. I am talking about MAJOR crash where it messes up programs and everything. That's okay though since I am getting a Smartmedia card reader coming in. Woohoo!

toyfiend, I noticed that too. I don't know how it can be fixed though.

sygyzy, USB on mine works great. It's pretty fast, so I won't be getting a reader (or should I?). I will be getting a 64MB smartmedia card.

Anybody know of a good camera case for this one? TIA

USB works great for me ( at least in Win98, anyone knows if JVC supports or is planning a support Win2K? ), so I'm definitly not buying a dedicated smartmedia reader, however I will buy a 32 or 64Meg smartmedia card ( 8Megs for 3.3MP camera is a joke). As far as the LCD display - its noisless in moderatly well to very well lit areas. The only time i see any interference is when try to use it in a dark room, which doesn't bother me since in this scenario I'd opt to use the optical viewfinder, but I do have another concern, and that is battery life. Can anyone give an estimation on how many pictures can you take (with LCD On), before being forced to recharge? Oh, and I second sirsolo question about the case.

I'm still waiting for my camera...but for those of you who got the camera I've got a question....

I can't get a straight answer on the zoom capabilities...is it 2X optical or 3X optical. Any digital zoom?

Thanks.

I am going to go get a case for this bad boy today. Did you guys notice that they gave some sort of hollow black cylinder with the camera? What the hell is it? It's not even listed in the list of things in the manual. I noticed it fits over the lens so I guess that's it? USB is totally messed up on my Win Me. It crashes it so bad it's rediculous. Have you guys also noticed that the plastic flap that covers the ports (digital, printer, video, usb, etc) cannot be removed? Sure it helps from losing the piece but it doesn't flip all the way so it gets in the way of the wires.

Got this from JVC website

The JVC GC-QX3 uses a 2.3x optical/7:1 max digital zoom with glass aspherical lenses

Does anyone know how to turn off the digital zoom or how to differentiate between the digital and regular zoom?

What type of batteries does this camera use? Is it a proprietary one like the Canon S10 or uses AA batteries?

That's good to hear, in the description it didn't say what it came with so I assume you had to buy it seperately.

Bummer, i can't find the battery for better than $70 either...

I think that tube is to connect on extra lenses? It's not threaded so it looks like some cheap quick fix, perhaps an afterthought?

Anyone decided on a case for this baby? The LCD is so big and smooth, don't want to scratch it. I'm looking at the Lowepro belt case with soft insides designed for digital cams at Amazon.com.

belt bag

i am also looking at the "D-RES 50", but it looked a little big...

No, I found out the black plastic cylinder is to protect it from glare. If you plan on taking pictures in alot of sunlight, you should put it on. I also fixed my USB problem. Apparently the battery is too weak to sustain the power it needs to do file transfers. Solution (as indicated by the manual) is to use the AC power. Woohoo! I am looking for a camera bag too, please suggest something people!

Wolverine,

what kind of deal did you get from staples for the smartmedia stuff?

I'm looking to buy a 64MB for cheap.

Cheapest I found so far is $100 - $20coupon at buy.com

I got mine along with the San Disk Imagemate and Sandisk 64MB Smartmedia card from Onvia. They are all great. If you guys are looking for a great camera bag get the Lowepro D-RES 30AW from Amazon.com or Photoalley.com. The second one has it in stock and with only a buck something charge for shipping. Amazon should still be out of stock the last time I checked. Nobody is ever goign to be able to use all 64MB. That takes about 260 pictures at 1024x768 in fine mode. I tried to take a picture every few seconds and still couldn't use that many!
