Hi Guys,

Not sure if this is any deal but might be for someone who wants a decent (according to highwaymp3 reviews) mp3 deck in their car that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. This is on "special" at Autotoys.com for $169.98. You get free shipping if you pay via paypal. I don't know about reliability of autotoy but they are supposed to have been around for 7 years. Price at Crutchfield is $229.99 + shipping. So, it's not too bad.

Sound Domain will pricematch it I'm very sure and they have a 105% pricematch .. that way you wouldn't need to use paypal.. tax if you live in WA tho

Edit: Must add that anyone looking for a car MP3 player won't find a better one in this price range.. I own one, it's an awesome deck!

Hey guys who've bought this... do you need a CD changer to go along with it? I've never mucked around in car stereo before, I've got a dodge Neon and have been wanting an mp3 D player for my car, but I've been worried about needing to buy additional components. Is this a complete CS kit? Thanks!

PS I know, I'll need a new enclosure to mount it in my dashboard.

Woke up this morning to see car door wide open, and Blaupunkt AM/FM/CD missing.
Didn't lock because it's a rag top, and been to lazy to install the alarm I bought a year ago.
Guess this post came at the right time. Thanks MadMark and Phunktion.

Waiting on word of pricematch from Sound Domain while I am installing alarm system....

Hi RobsTV,

Can you please update us with the pricematch at Sounddomain.com when available? I am planning on getting that Mp3 deck as well, and going to get some speakers (Infinity Reference 652i and Infinity Reference 6952i) from them as well. I will try to have them pricematch www.millionbuy.com for the speakers.

I am very sorry to hear about what happened to your car. I hope they didn't damage the door lock or window badly. Talk about that, I need to get some kind of alarm for my car, too. I have power door lock in driver side and the sales in BestBuy told me today that the $150 alarm they have will not work with my lock. WTF?!?!?! I guess it's now time to find a hotdeal on alarm.

Pay a few dollars more and get the good old JVC SH99 (or a newer model similar to that). It sounds the best in its price range.

I have had nothign but good dealings with autotoys.com. They responded quick to my emails and I spent quite a bit of money there. I had to put in a head unit from pioneer and I wasnt quite sure what I should get and they told me which wiring harness, which radio modifier, and also since it was a double din they told me which mounting bracket thingie to get. I love these guys to death. Although buyer beware... they sell a lot of crappy boss and lanzar amps. Believe me just because an amp says it can get this or that and what it can really get in reality is a big difference. If you have any questions about my dealings with them please shoot me a message at doeboy99@Hotmail.com and I can fill you in on anything you need to know.

It is imperative to understand something about car alarms: the alarm, and, as such, the protection of your car is ONLY AS GOOD AS THE INSTALL. Please. Don't skimp on the installation when you decide to buy an alarm.

You could get a $1000 alarm -- but if it is poorly installed, a somewhat knowledgable thief can identify which wires (and where) should be cut. If you are going to pay the premium to have an aftermarket alarm installed, it is a waste of your time and money to spend below . . . oh, roughly $300. Find a good independent shop that prides itself in perfectionist alarm installation. If you don't want to pay the money to have it installed right, don't bother paying anything at all. Unless all you care about is the keyless entry.

That said, I highly recommend Clifford alarms -- but only when coupled with an appropiately comprehensive installation :-D.

Oh yeah. I really like the KD-SH99. I installed one for a friend a while ago; it seems like the best car mp3-cd solution out there.

<< they are somewhat shady...they sell quality stuff for cheap...but if you get the wrong part...goodluck dealing with their customer service... >>

Amen to that, I bought a mounting kit for a Ford Taurus, and they did not send the all important wiring harness. I ordered it fedex 2-day, and it didn't ship for 2 days, they upgraded to overnight (no charge), then I got the stuff, and no harness. I argued with them over email that the upgrade for shipping was worthless since they didn't have my order right. After a month and a half of them telling me they shipped it (via email, no one ever answers their phone), which they didn't.
They FINALLY shipped it for real, and gave me $10 credit in my online account with them. I haven't ordered anything from them since, and can't seem to login when I tried last week, so I guess that $10 went bye
bye. I think they started to listen when I told them I'd reverse my
credit card charges. Prior to this incident, a few years before I ordered a head unit and it went just fine... It got stolen about 2 months after that, and I bought the replacement from them, and they gave me a discount.

So, in the way past they were great, in my more recent past, I'd never
deal with them again. Mostly great prices though.

<< I've bought stuff from Autotoys on a couple of occasions, never a problem. >>

I've bought from them a couple of times...they didn't charge for shipping at checkout, but said they would tack on the costs later..this is where the GOUGE you, with like $15 shipping for a small 1 lb item. Yeah, right. So, I guess with free shipping with Paypal, it isn't so bad anymore...you could still use your credit card to fund the paypal transaction!

Other choices:
BestToys.net $152.90 + 27.27 shipping, $180.17 (a rip on shipping)
BroadwayComputer.com $168.85 + 13.92 shipping, $182.77 (seems like most straight up)
Plus a few others priced around the same.
All places, including Sound Domain, have "some" bad feedback about service.

Seems like this is no deal after all, if it only works with Paypal, to save a lousy $10.
You can price match, but after they include shipping, about same price different store.

EDIT:
Just checked email, and BroadwayComputer shipped out unit today, UPS ground, and supplied tracking number.
Fast service.

If any of you have an old Dreamcast you can run mp3s through that. I had mine hooked up to a 5 inch display that would list all the songs and would also display jpegs. Works pretty good and gave me a reason to put it to good use. Plus having a game system in your car looks pretty cool.
