Great deal. I've been wanting a pair of these--too bad I don't have a CC near me to avoid shipping costs.

you didn't get a proper seal then, these things have ample amounts of bass.

Just got them. They sound terribly thin if you don't get a proper seal. Same with all canal phones. Great set for the price.

bought 2 pair when they were $10 last summer and love them....100x better than the stock ipod phones (though that's not saying much). You do need a proper seal and it takes a bit for the plugs to soften up but it's some of the best money i've spent imho.

I've heard great things about them, so I picked up a pair even though I didn't need them and don't prefer canal phones. We'll see if they live up to their reputation in my case.

Thanks, OP.

As an alternative, you might consider these from Supermediastore (can't link here)
TDK In-Ear Bud Headphones with Silicon Tips (IE100)

Normally 7.50 a set, free shipping, though there is 10% off coupon on the site today, lowering the price to 6.75..

Modify these by putting on Shure E2 foam sleeve/plug replacements. (ebay) They sound MUCH better, just check the LOOOONG thread over at headfi.

nice. yes the included foam plugs are kind of lack luster. not too bad if you warm them up a bit before squishing them in your ear, but they are kind of uncomfortable if they are cold.

Woah, didn't think of that. I have a dozen of those things laying around from all the Shures I broke. Got a link to the mod?

Rule number one: Do NOT use these fresh out of the box with the supplied foam sleeves. They're just horrible. They don't fit well, don't isolate noise well, don't sound clear, nor does it have any bass response.

It's a risk-free mod.. there's no possible way to break anything.

Get the marshmallows, take off the stock foam buds. There is a thin gray sleeve directly underneath. It is very lightly glued to the bud, so use your fingernail and scratch at the base of the gray sleeve and it should slip right off. Take your fresh E2 foam sleeve, stretch out the opening (there is a right and wrong side to the E2 foamies) a little bit with a pen or pencil, and then quickly shove it onto the bare marshmallow. I just did this mod for my cousin and it took me about 20 seconds to do both buds.

I use ebay E2 orange foamies size large. Tried medium but it wore out faster. Large also isolates better and is more snug, especially when it's cold out.

After this mod, the headfi consensus is that these at the best sounding ear-canal phones that's not a high-end ($100+) Shure, Etymotics, UltimateEars, Klipsch.

Ive used this marshmallow/E2 foam combo for the last year on NYC subways for 3 hours every day to and from work. When I misplaced them once, I used both in-ear sennheisers and over-the-ear sennheisers and I couldn't stand the lack of noise isolation for 5 minutes compared to the marshmallows.

I had the exact same thought when I first got mine today. If you've never used ear canal phones before, you're probably not putting them in correctly.

I actually googled "how to insert canalphones" before i got it right. The only way I could get them in was to turn them upside down.

If it doesn't feel like you're pushing them in so far that they won't come out, they're not in all the way.

So you want someone to pay $.60 less for a used set than going to the store and buying a brand new set?

Listen carefully.

These are quite good if you customize the cushion. The crap they come with are too hard, they suck.

I use soft earpads, the yellow kind (industrial) but any soft pad will do. Get them at a Rite Aid or any drug store. You cut them to about 1/2" long, burn a hold in the middle, replace the stock pads. I see a previous post suggested something like this. You don't really have to remove the grey tube or buy expensive foam. A pack of 10 sets are no more than $5.

You will get a decent seal with little effort, and they are a lot more comfortable than the ones they come with.

PS I had bought the $100 Etymotics, and they truly sucked. Dont know if there was a problem with that particular set, but NO BASS AT ALL. Horrible, and I tried 5 diff sets of pads.

I'm sure all the et's except the ones I got are amazing. I'm telling you they sucked. I have to assume they were defective, but for <$10 these buds sound fine, especially with a minor amount of eq via Rockbox parametric.

I have these phones and what I do is put them in my ears the best I can and then after a minute they are soft enough to fully insert into your ear. For the price I can't imagine too much of a better deal.

Yo really NYC subways? I just spent $80 on earphones and I don't know but I want to settle for cheaper. How was the isolation and music with eh Marsh? Because I'm going to listen to alot...
