I'm not referring to R600's performance. It looked like an absolute monster on paper but its actual performance barely matches an 8800GTS. Drivers can only do so much for a card. "Mature" drivers will not make R600 faster than the 8800GTX.
K10 looks really good on paper but it also has been delayed and delayed.

I will be glad when we have a Barcelona that will do 1.9GHz.... The B02 steppings have finally arrived and most of the issues we noticed with the B00/B01 are gone, base clock speeds are up to 1.8GHz, 2.0GHz is being sampled to certain partners now.

Because of new drivers released it now beats the GTS in most scenarios. I don't believe it will ever be faster than a GTX but it got closer.
