I am thinking of upgrading my system to a faster CPU(I know it's still gonna be slow!), but I was wondering, is there any advatage to buying a k6-III/450 over a k6-II/450?
I have a K6-III/450 that I don't want any more ... email me if you're interested. It has a fan and heat sink -- works fine, just a little noisy -- probably something to do with the fan.
I had a K6-III/400 before I upgraded to a Duron. My son has a K6-2/400. No comparison in real world apps. Winstone 99 scores for similarly configured systems are 25 for K6-III and 17.5 for K6-2.
Yes, the performance of the K6-III is worth the price. I remember back when I got my K6-II/500 for ~$75 and the price of a K6-III/450 was ~$130, so I took a light performance hit in favor of a (for a HS student) heavy wallet hit.
i want a k6III ... could use it for my lil bro...
umm...anyone know how to oc one of these chips?
if you get a new chip ... how do you set the speed on it?
