I hate to bring up some more bad news. But my chip is also no longer working.
I first updated my P55T2P4 bios, then followed the directions at
www.tomshardware.com to set it at 2.0v and 2x multiplier. I popped the chip in and it worked! I was very excited. I then installed Win98.
No problems yet. I was running the bus at 75mhz at the time. I got a few lockups. So I went to 66mhz bus (66x6=400mhz) which was actually UNDERclocking the CPU. It booted ok. I benched it, it was a bit slower. No biggie though, I figure its better than the 166mmx that was in there!
So it locks on me again. I try to boot? No dice. I remove all of the cards, still no beeps. I remove the memory. It beeps. So I replace everything and it boots again. (I posted a on wednesday with this problem). Well, it promptly hung again, and now will NOT boot with the AMD chip in there. I have tried everything to get it to work. The computer works fine with the 166mmx in there, even if I overclock the bus to 83mhz! So I know its not the memory or the components. Its gotta be the chip.
I am going to see if I can find somebody with a super7 board that I can try it out on. But I'm pretty convinced that its the CPU.
Anybody have any ideas on what I should do?
