K75SA Micron DDR226 Memory Boot-up Problem

I am running a K75SA with a 1200 ghz Athlon T-Bird processor booting into WinXP. It ran stabily for two months with one Micron 128 MB of DDR266 module. I replaced that with a Micron 256 MB DDR226 module and encountered a problems. When I arrive at the WinXP login screen and type in my password... my computer suddenly reboots while I am typing or when i press enter... or when I move my mouse. For a second before it reboots I see Windows flash an error message but its impossible for me to read a word of it because there it reboots too fast. When I reseat the RAM the problem temporarily disappears for a few boots. I heard a fvew months earlier there was a noted isue with this RAM module. Please advise.

I was having the same problem with Crucial in my DFI DDR board. I swapped it out 3 times with them, then finally got a refund. I'm running Kingston now and it's very stable.


Check on a BIOS upgrade for your mobo. If that doesn't work, call Crucial!

My computer has been flashed with the latest BIOS... that was my initial thought. I didn't buy the RAM directly from Crucial but as a package with my mobo... Its certified Micron RAM though.

Any other ideas before I replace it?

Try removing the ram and reseat it several times, don't be afraid to PUSH HARD. The ram slots on this board are known to be very tight.........

Test ur memory withy memtest. One of them might be bad or both. My daughter's computer is running with 2 - 256 crucial pc2100 and has no problems what so ever.
