K7M and VIA 4in1?

Hey, does anyone know if the VIA 4in1 drivers (including bus mastering and AGP) work on the Asus K7M? I looked on Asus' site for drivers, but they dont have any for Win2k. That really pisses me off. Anyway will these 4 in 1 drivers work for the K7M in Win2k? I went to the VIA page for the Northbridge chipset for the K7M (which is VT82C580VP Apollo VP possibly?) and to download the drivers for it, it just pointed to the 4 in 1 driver page. OR do are there any drivers that AMD puts out for bus mastering for the K7M? Please help! Thanks...

You wouldn't want the VIA 4 in 1 patch. Your Northbridge is an AMD Irongate. You should get your AGP VXD, IDE Bus Mastering and USB miniport driver from AMD's site.

Only your Southbridge is VIA. That's only the ISA bridge and PCI controller and on board sound if you have that option.

Aww I just downloaded the Bus Master IDE driver and it gave me this error message:
Not supported AMD components found.
AMD-756
AMD-766

This is what the K7M has right? That wouldnt pop up because its windows 2000 would it?

Sorry. I was wrong. The IDE controller is in the South Bridge. The K7M has a VIA 686A Southbridge. Only Revision 1.32 of the IDE Bus Mastering supports Windows 2000 and only for the AMD Viper Southbridge. Before 1.32 came out, we just did without in Win 2000. Haven't tried the 686A IDE bus mastering patch with 2000. Maybe you can do without too.

Revision 5.1 of the AGP driver supports Windows 2000. That IS supported by the Northbridge. The K7M IS a AMD Northbridge so this driver you definitely want.

Well, I have an ATI Radeon card and its not performing so well in Win2K. I'm hoping bus mastering drivers might help. Any idea on which ones I need to get? You said something about the 686A IDE bus mastering, where would I get that? Thanks for your help btw...

Bus Mastering drivers will not help.

How does it work in 9x/ME operating systems?

Did you try glsetup? It supports Radeons now.

Yeah, i'm using all of the newest drivers for the card. I dont have win 98 installed anymore. Its a Win2k only machine. So there are no bus mastering drivers for the K7M in Win2000?

I was reading somewhere how the radeon drivers were overwriting part of the VIA 4in1 drivers and when you installed the card, you had to reinstall the VIA drivers. thats why I want to at least try it. Am i stuck?

True. All ATI cards attempt to install GART drivers for ALL chipsets during the "easy install" process.

Not sure how performance of the Radeon is in 2K since I never used 2K as a "gamer's OS".
