Rockman2001,
Thanks for the kind comments, but mostly Congratulations on your first system build. I'm glad you did the research and avoided the pitfalls that could have jumped up and bit you. It is good to see another positive experience posted about this board. Did you run into any setup troubles at all with your video card or memory? Did you bother to flash the BIOS or are you running the shipped BIOS for now? Just curious.

I am now oon my 4th system with the K7S5A board, all are running the shipped bios. I have no need to overclock, unless the duron 600 will do 800, or 750will do 1000. ( 133 bus instead of 100 ) other than that the only problems I came across are, do not load the setup utility from the Driver disk,. just load the drivers by hand. Gave me instability issues

Congrats on your first system, many more will be coming

I'm glad to here another success story! I just got a K7S5A board and despite all the negative experiences with installing this board, my install went smooth as silk. I've run this board through a few tests and it seems SOLID as a rock! I HAD to install the lastest BIOS because I am running Windows 2000 and would like to have a reliable floppy (I don't think that is to much to ask). I updated my BIOS from the floppy and everything went great...j/k I played it VERY safe and plugged the PSU into a UPS and updated the BIOS from my hd. Everything went smooth. I now have the latest BIOS with a PERFECTLY running system. Great board! It just goes to show you, a little research can take you a loooong way.

I had ZERO problems with either the memory or the video card. The whole thing went almost too easy. I began to worry about what I had done wrong since I didn't have any of the problems so many seem to be having!

I am using the shipped BIOS. I have no reason to flash right now since it is so stable.

By the way, is there a way to check system and cpu temperatures realtime without having to re-boot and enter the BIOS? My cpu temps have been holding steady at 50 deg C and top out at 54 deg C after playing Unreal Tournament for a couple of hours, but that is only after I exit the game and re-boot to check the BIOS.

I just builded my first system with this board and sounds like I took the same path you did with shipped bios and auto setup from the disk and i had no problems either seems to be a fast board also.

I Just built mine too, ( 5th PC ) others sold already, smooth sailing also, except for the power led connector which got me thinking for a second, Both cases I have has three connectors on Power Led, and the board has 2 (pin 2 - 4 ) according to manual, anyways, bypass the power led and everything is running great Athlon 1.4Ghz w/ Mushkin 512 PC2100 RAM, GeForce 2 Inno3D Video card.

Goodluck!
