k7s5a with a Geforce 4ti 4600 and Geforce 4 mx 400

Ok here is my Problem, I just got the Geforce 4 ti 4600, i put it in, it worked fine for a few days then it started to random lockup on me... I could tell it was about to lock up becuase what ever i was doing, whether it was games or Browsing the internet, there would be Yellow Vertical lines running thru-out the screen then the lockup... I have tried different Nvidia Drivers, but it does all the same... I also tried this in 2 other machines for a couple hours each and no lockups and ran flawless.. Same drivers, Same Os

The geforce 4 mx 400 won't even boot, all i get is a black screen.. Again i tried this in 2 other machines and it works flawless


WEll hope someone has some info for me..

Mx300 Sound card

Oh yeah, I have a geforce 2 GTS that I have in the machine until i can get this resolved and it Runs Flawless! I can run Games all day long and no lockups

Doh forgot to tell you all i have a 300watt power supply.. Oh and what should the CPU temp be running at and the other Vcore temps be?

hmm.. it would seem the Ti4600 is at fault here otherwise your backup card would crash it also.

Is it set at AGP 4x in the bios? If it is (or isn't) turn it off (or on).



My CPU temps are pretty atrocious (55oC), so anything higher than that and you need a new heatsink setup. My MoBo Temps are around 40oC.. i'm not sure what the recommended temps are tho..

The PSU may also be a little underpowered for your rig, tried a 350W or something? Just borrow one from a friend for a couple of hours before you go out and buy one tho..

Yep AGP set to 4x in bios

Read the fine print on the PSU. Many many "300 Watt" units have an actual combined limit somewhere around 100-150 Watts on the 5V and 3.3V rails - which would be too weak for a T-Bird 1200 and a fast graphics card.

Check that, and also make sure the cards are really fully settled in the AGP slot. Elitegroup's AGP slots are TIGHT.
