K7T Pro ATA/100 question

I am leaning heavily towards getting the MS K7T Pro as opposed to my original plan of getting a A7V. I need stability over OC, and I am worried becasue of all the A7V issues I have ssen on the boards.

One Q: If you get the K7T Pro with optional (I believe) Promise ATA100 board, do I get 4 IDE channels (i.e. 8 devices)?

No you get 4 IDE devices, btw ATA-66 is what you get,I`ve just installed mine today(MSI K7T PRO) I cannot believe how stable it is no problems at all.
Btw I`m using it right now ,also did not have to do a clean install , I tried a 3d game works great,so I`m very happy ,have not updated BIOS yet mine is 1.2,I believe latest is 1.5,anyway there are some of these boards being ship with a Promise ATA-100 card ,but mine did not come with one,to tell you the truth this board rocks without one being it`s so stable.

Btw cpu temp is 47c,case is 38c,I`m using no special case cooling only the Taisol heatsink/fan for my 900 Thunderbird,those 4 in 1 drivers installed ok on my Win98 OS1.

I didn't get a ata100 board either, but I don't care because my drive is only ata66 anyway.

Definatly reccomend this board aslong as you don't want to overclock.
I haven't tried the Fuzzy Logic 2 overclocking thingo yet. But I doubt it will go very much higher....

I was going to get the version that includes the ATA-100, since I am also getting a IBM ATA-100 drive. However, the price difference is 30 dollars, so I may just get the ATA-66 version for now, and add a separate ATA-100 card later. There shouldn't be any noticable speed difference anyway. I was mostly interested in the extra channels.

I haven't seen the special version that supposedly works with the k7T drive. Has anyone seen these for sale? A regular Promise 100 goes for as low as $32.

HenrikDK, I`ve not seen the ATA100 version out yet,just buy the normal one,then all you have to do is buy a Promise ATA-100 Card to tell you the truth you will hardly see any difference,btw the Abit hotrod (ATA-100 Card) as RAID support if you are interested.

Last thing just tried the live BIOS update works well for MSI K7T PRO(have v1.4 now)I guess 1.5 is still beta,anyway works great.
I`ve just been tweaking the Bios.
