Kaiser Permanente, anyone have any experiences with them.

Was going over the options available for medical insurance thru the company. PPO runs around 180 while Kaiser is around 90 for the family plan. About all I know is that you got to go to their medical centers, also they have affiliated hospitals for inpatient and emergency care. what do they consider inpatient? What about co-pays and other expenses?

It was years ago, but they screwed my mom over. They messed up a hernia(sp?) surgery multiple times, and basically treated her like crap. Needless to say, we don't use them anymore.

They messed up the surgery? They were in the OR bumping into the doc while he was working?

I have it. In my age, location, and medical condition, they are the cheapest by far. It is really difficult to get physician care on short notice, almost impossible to contact physicians directly or have them call you back, etc. Medication is handled smoothly with ease which is all I care about. I've never met anyone who loves Kaiser service. I will stick with Kaiser until they really start to irritate me though.

I have them as my plan but only have gone in for minor things. Always got prompt service and staff was helpful and knowledgable. A lot better than the independent clinic I used to go to with old plan.

we used to have them.

they were fine, except they started enrolling MANY local people
& the only pharmacy in the area got WAY too crowded.

we're now on HealthNet, but wouldn't have any problem switching back
to Kaiser, since they've expanded to deal with the problems since we
dropped out.

They have gotten much better, I've been happy with them the past few years. When I had them awhile ago, I had some problems. But for the past 2-3 years, my coverage has been great. We have a nice facility in our area. Of course, I work at Kaiser now, so my opinion might not be the one to listen to.

Looking on their website they have like 5 different plans plus like 2 multi-option plans. My works benefits site doesn't really tell what option, are company policies under a different plan? Also, the Kaiser center closest to my house is about 30 minutes, yet there was a county hospital that is an affiliated partner, what exactly does that mean as far as co-pays and such

one of my brother's high school friends died from a brain tumor that a kaiser facility failed to catch. she presented with a headache, and the "advice nurse" proceeded to give her an aspirin and told her to sleep it off. a few days later, i think she had like an aneurysm or some blockage in the brain from the tumor pressing up against it, and was rushed to the ER. she never made it back home. that was about 3 years ago. she wasn't more than 17.
