Oh, and yeah if I see obvious indications of Trump support I'll find option b, restaurant, shop, whatever. If they want to get political at their place of business I'm going to choose to get political in how I spend my money. That also goes for Christian asshats like Hobby Lobby.

Where I live I see none of this going on. If some business owners have Trumpie leanings they evidently know better than to make it known. It would certainly cost them a lot of business. Uh, it would mine!

Edit: I had never heard of Hobby Lobby, just looked it up. Big chain... there are some stores in the suburbs here but at least 15 miles from me.

The CEO of Home Depot made his unwavering support known. I haven't been there since.
Links?

Here it's suggested that the guy who donated to 2020 Trump campaign no longer has control of Home Depot.

In the case of the Home Depot, Bernie Marcus could probably care little to none whether people boycott Home Depot. Sure, he founded the company, he helped it grow, and created it into a major home improvement corporation.

But he already has sold off virtually everything associated with Home Depot. If you started off a business, helped it make billions, then sold it all one year, the whole corporation could burn to the ground and you would be completely unscathed. He hasn't been part of Home Depot since 2002, so any actions by boycotts here are 17 years too late.

Imagine thinking your grandma would be proud to see her awkward grandson get politically cucked in front of the whole country and beg for more.

I know this man already has no self respect whatsoever but come on.

I don't remember if it was on this board or another. Somebody brought out the point that both Kam and Tim worked at Mickey Dees early in life.

Who (if any recently) were the previous Pres and/or VP that worked blue collar before moving on up? The Bush's were all silver spoon for example. I don't know much about the early life of the others.

The video they show on TV news of RFK Jr. explaining his cancelling his campaign is shocking. His voice sounds like his vocal chords are non-existent. I can't remember meeting anyone whose voice is so destroyed. Also, his face is out of a horror movie. I don't know his history. Seems to me that young children would recoil from him in terror. Vance and Trump extolling him is otherworldly.

Well, Abe was said to have been born (and grew up in?) a log cabin. The first president to be born in a hospital was (am looking it up again)...

James Earl Carter Jr. was born October 1, 1924, in Plains, Georgia, at the Wise Sanitarium, where his mother worked as a registered nurse. Carter thus became the first American president born in a hospital.
Edit: I was just reading the Wikipedia treatment on Bill Clinton and came upon this eyebrow raising paragraph. I figure this is little known!

In November 1996, Clinton narrowly escaped possible assassination in the Philippines,[157] which was a bridge bomb planted by al-Qaeda and was masterminded by Osama bin Laden. During Clinton's presidency, the attempt remained top secret,[158] and it remains classified as of March 2024, when Reuters reported having spoken with eight retired secret service agents about the incident.[159]

We have a very popular local orchard that serves craft beer, wood fired pizzas, and apples and pie on weekends and has had quite a booming business since covid and everyone getting outside. Their neighbors started a business to try and do the same, offering beer and wood fired pizza etc. as well as sell vegetables since they are a large farm and that is what they do. They had trouble gaining traction. The orchard neighbors are liberal, despite that they chatted with the vegetable farm and suggested perhaps they take down the huge Trump banner they had on their barn. They did so reluctantly, because free speech and all of that. Now they advertise for each other and people often stop at both on weekends and socialize. They vegetable place admits that the sign wasn't helping.

My wife runs a business and I have to reign her in because she likes to post political crap on her Facebook etc. and I don't think a business owner should publicly make their feelings known unless you don't want as much business walking in the door. It's just not good practice.

Free advertising for McDonald's lol.

Hard to find ancient work history, but some recent Presidents did grow up fairly poor. Obama's parents were still college students, Carter grew up in Plains, GA; while both Clinton and Ford took their stepfathers' surname. Richard Nixon seems to fit the bill:

At Whittier [High School], Nixon lost a bid for student body president—his first electoral defeat. He often rose at 4 a.m. to drive the family truck to Los Angeles to purchase vegetables at the market and then drove to the store to wash and display them before going to school.

He has spasmodic dysphonia.
Causes…what causes spasmodic dysphonia

What Is the Cause of Spasmodic Dysphonia? The exact cause of spasmodic dysphonia is unknown, however, most cases result from a trigger in the brain and nervous system that can affect the voice. Sometimes it is caused by psychological stress.

My supposition is that RFK Jr.'s SD is the result of his madness. He's unconsciously aware of his self-serving betrayal and the symptom is SD.

Tricky Dickey got 49 states in '72 (Really? No, really?).

St. Ronny got 40 in '84 and Daddy Bush did the same in '88

Can Kam take second place?

It wasn't but a week ago he was attempting to get a position somewhere in Kamala's team. And I was dead before his father was assassinated, but his son seems to be about as polar opposite of his father as possible. Or maybe JFK had worms in his head and was pranking the people of Central Park by leaving a dead bear there.

He's right about the historic part though, it's going to be a historic shitshow. I didn't think it could get any more looney than Trump + Vance. But RFKJ can give both a run for their money.

The scary part is them adding him will actually bring Trump more voters. Only in MAGA land could adding RKFJ actually be a good thing.

Has anyone considered this is how the worms procreate?
